New Heads

I got my LT1 swap done. Now, well... I am thinking of replacing the heads with ported heads... 2.0 inteake and 1.5 exhaust.

What all parts would I need to get in addition to the heads to complete the project? Would I need like a gasket kit, or anything?

Also, what all needs to be taken off to swap out the heads. I've never done it before. I don't know if the intake needs to come out or what. Also... How long would this project take do you think??

I hope this is in the correct forum.

Not Completely. I didn't have all the tools, I needed, and I ran out of time... So I did over half myself, and let the local shop finish. They did the wiring, computer reprogram, and got the computer to talk to the 700r4 trans.

There wont be much left in your engine bay once the heads are off. It is a big job. You'll need head, intake, exhaust gaskets. The wiring harness will have to be pulled loose from the motor. You'll have to remove the intake, all the accessories and brackets from the front of the motor. The exhaust manifolds need to come out. Figure a couple weekends for sure.

swapping heads could easily be accomplished in one weekend. if you have all of the gaskets and tools at hand, it will only take an afternoon to have the heads off and the new ones ready to go on.

with that said, simply dropping ported heads on will not gain you enough for it to be worth it unless you also put in a larger cam, headers, larger TB, etc, unless you already have some of that.
