new bmr unit with the old lsx

some of you may remember i had a lsx with a pa racing tubular front end and spohn mounts. well it required some welding and a bit of work but i made it work and drove with it for some time with no issues.

when i decided to go back to standard style spring perches for obvious reasons i called and ordered one of every company k-member with lsx mounts available for our cars. bmr had the thickest and overall nicest looking unit. turned out it worked really well and the mounts were perfect putting the lsx in the right location without any major work.

just thought i'd add my .02 cents for anyone looking for a k-member. the bmr unit is a really nice unit. with great customer service and a very fast shipping time i'm going to order a few more things for the car from them.

Re: new bmr unit with the old lsx

that's not making much sense to me. your saying if you wanted to switch back to standard sbc? the easiest way would be to order a sbc gen 1 mount setup and do the lsx mounts added on if you want the option to change.

i guess i got lucky. mine is perfect, well made and great location for the mounts. couldn't be happier and to change out poly or standard mounts it's very easy also.

Re: new bmr unit with the old lsx

Good info to know Kandied. The previous owner of my car tried to install a Spohn K member. He finally snapped after a few attempts to instal the k member. He was MORE than capable of changing the k member, its just that the Spohn piece was that far out. He ended up going back to a stock k member. Now that I have the car the motor mounts are fatigued and the pass one is tearing (I usually see the drivers go first). If poly mounts don't get the oilpan away from the stock k member (to what I think is acceptable), I will have to go aftermarket on the k member. The Drew's crossmember doesn't help either as it wasn't the most accurately fabricated piece either......

Re: new bmr unit with the old lsx

i bought one from aje and one from bmr. both units were right on. i have the aje for sale in the sale section. the bmr was just that much thicker that i went with it.

as for motor mounts i've always used the non-poly. i understand they don't last as long but i'm not racing the car and it works great on the street for me. i like the fact it flexes a little.

the biggest difference i noticed in all the companies is the bmr a arms are much thicker then all the other companies. the pieces are heavy.. i don't see a real weight difference going bmr but it does save alot of space and look good which was my purpose.

I also have the BMR installed, it does look like a strong piece; bolted in fine too. The first one I bought actually had the motor mounts in the wrong place, it's made in a jig so somebody just messed up. They made a new one and had it shipped within 3 days, so the customer service was excellent.

I had a Spohn piece on order for over 3 months and they kept making excuses to delay building it. I called BMR and they built it the same week.

my bmr took 4 days from order to delivery. my aje 7 because i ordered on a friday. my pa racing took 2 days but that's because i overnighted it.

not sure why spohn can't get their act together but every place is different.
