How many LS1 conversions started with a carb car?
I may be wrong, but it seems most of you converted an EFI car to LS1.
Not sure how much difference it makes. One difference is the fuel line comes up to the engine compartment on the passenger side. Also no electric pump wiring/relays/etc.

I put an LS1 in a 84 carb'd Z28, used a 4th gen plastic tank and built my own fuel lines from the tank to the rails. I also used the racetronix fuel pump kit which comes with it's own harness, fuse, and relay.

Source & p/n for that kit? Did a search, don't see one that includes the relay.
I'd prefer doing an external pump so I don't have to mess with the tank. I believe the fuel rail can be switched from side-to-side on the engine so the inlet is on the passenger side - no need for new lines.

I might be wrong but I don't think you can rotate the fuel rail on an LS1, The website for the fuel pump is www.racetronix.com.

I found their website, and looked at a bunch of links, but didn't find anything that included relays. All of the pumps appeared to be in-tank replacements.

Re: How many LS1 conversions started with a carb car?
check my thread out... my car was carbed, and i diddnt change any of the fuel lines... and everything is still on the passenger side
I put my regulator on the passenger side and bent my lines up to it and used the necessary fittings for line sizes on it... I also installed my fuel rail the opposite way so the nipple is on the passenger side. with a compression fitting and a an/pipe adapter the braided line goes right off the regulator and into the rail.
I used an inline aeromotive fuel pump and two inline (10 micron and 100 micron) fuel filters and used my stock tank.
For wiring I sent my wiring harness to speartech and he removed all of the unneeded wires, and made fan relay pigtails, wired in a standalone fuel pump relay and pigtail, and it has its own fuse block. All i had to do was run the wire through the car to where i located the fuel pump, wire up the fan relay in the stock position, and power the harness. Fuel pump works just like a factory one.
He also brought out wires for the guages in the dash. I opted for aftermarket autometers, instead of digging the old wiring out just to use stock guages. My aldl is in place and everything looks like its supposed to be there

I went from factory carb. I made my own harness from a 4th gen LS1 harness and my stock one. I used the factory third gen harness for the chassis power and the 4th gen harness ( fuse box relays, everything ) for the engine and accessories.

I did just as cam did. Got mine running great. It's only about 8-10 wires you will have to connect. Use the ls1 fuse box. I of course did a 5.3 from a truck with the truck harness and fuse box.

Cool. Good to know I'm not alone.
I'd forgotten what it was like to drive an LG4 car - and I'm driving it at sea level right now, not 5800' like I was 8 years ago. It's going to be sweet having the LS1/T56 - car won't know what hit it. . .

And trust me. The car WILL know what hit it. More than twice the power.. So be prepared to slap some SFCs on it, and upgrade the rear end and rear suspension so you can make some use of that new umph

Yeah...I went from my head/cam ls1/t56 to an LG4/auto...try that step down. Car feels like an absolute slug.

...Its not looking good. Its just a TA...and there was enough issues up front for me to not want to deal with. I havent ditched it... but I couldnt pass the deal up that I got on the 86. Its not too late to fix the black one...but its on hiatus for now until I can make my mind up
