Re: 92' LS Swap!

Well I got the K-Member in today and also got the steering linkage connected. Cutting that bar stock to fit to the knuckles was a PITA! I am going to try and get the A-Arms and the coilovers on sometime this weekend and then trial fit the LS2 and see if there are any issues. Is there a sponsor of this site that happens to sell the clamshell 4th gen mounts in poly? I have searched a bit but didn't come up with anything. Here are some pics of the K-Member on the car.

Thanks guys on the comments! I really appreciate it. I'll definitely keep you posted as the build progresses. If it looks half as good as ls1transam84 I'll be extremely happy.

Its hard to argue against on any front. Whether it be dollars, drive ability, or max performance, LS1's are pretty tough to beat dollar for dollar

Re: 92' LS Swap!

I'll send you a PM, I'm not sure if they are a site sponsor or not. Don't want to **** the mods off. I'm pretty new to this site so I am not sure how it works here, I guess I need to read the site rules. PM sent!
It is made to fit 82-02 with a few modifications. Pretty simple really.
Thanks for the compliments.

You can post the companys name here. You just cannot, not be a sponsor and try to sell your stuff here on a commercial level.

Re: 92' LS Swap!

Well then I got it here>>> http://www.burkhartchassis.com/fbodycomponets.html <<< It was $341 shipped. Bolts right in and all you have to do is drill one hole an inch above the factory brake attachment point. Then adjust the rod end to give you proper brake engagement.

I got it fron a company called Unisteer. >>> http://www.unisteer.com/mm5/merchant.mvc <<< I then sent it to AJE for them to mount on the K-Member. It's actually a (don't hate me for this) 1979-1993 Mustang manual rack. It has 2 1/4 turns lock to lock and has the right width so it seemed to be the best way to go. Search for it under Ford Mustang and you will see the exact kit they shipped me. AJE then added a few bits of there own and shipped it and the K-member to me.

Re: 92' LS Swap!

Awesome! Because I did see that you got the rack and pinion from Unisteer from your slide show. But I looked at there website and didnt find any rack and pinions for the 3rd Gens. So I just thought I would ask. Was it expensive to have it modded to fit? Thanx for the info. by the way.

Nothing was modded on the rack. The width was dead on for what we need for a third gen so that you have plenty of adjustment in the steering. The K member was made to bolt in a 3rd gen Camaro, utilizing the 79' to 93' Mustang manual rack, 4th gen Camaro style engine mounts, and a 3rd gen style bump steer kit to bolt to the spindle. Was it expensive though, Yes.

Well, it looks to have been put together superbly! How difficult was it to remove everything from the engine bay including the tranny?

Thanks, It was easy. I pulled the engine and tranny together by myself in a couple of hours. Just unplug, unbolt, and pull.

Re: 92' LS Swap!

back from the dead

Kingsize - I can't find much info on that rack on unisteer's site. What is the total travel length, is it the typical mustang 5"??

I am looking at this rack - it's 3 turns lock to lock which kinda stinks, but it has 6.25" of throw.

http://www.flamingriver.com/index.cf...rod/prd239.htm

Our cars stock have 6" total pitman arm travel I believe.

so hopefully one could use this arm without having to get different spindles with shorter arms to keep the turning radius. I just wish it was a 2.5 turn lock to lock.

Total length on that flaming river rack is 41" as well. does that seem like an ok width?

Thanks!
