My '02 truck had a 4.8L and it was an impressive engine. Towed my Z28 plus a ~1200 lb tare wt trailer like it wasn't even there.

I'm not saying don't get the 4.8, just price out a 5.3 and/or 6.0 and make an informed decision.

they do make great boost and the are very underrated. I have one in my 91 gta and 80 Monte Carlo.with good heads intake and cam they can make close to 500hp with a solid roller cam they can make over 500hp.thats amazing

I have a gen 3 4.8 lr4 in my 2000 Silverado 1500 I got the Elgin sloppy stage 3 cam kit it said it would fit in my engine but after I got it I got to looking and everyone was saying a stage 2 is the biggest that my cam would not fit everything in the engine is forged and brand new ported heads 7.400 push rods good ones and ARP studs everywhere on the engine and it’s going to have twin Gt3582 on it I know the cam it not good turbo cam but I just need to know if ima have any piston to valve clearance any help is appreciated thanks
