Re: New LS3

There are some threads on other boards that show graphs over 500 rwhp with headers, exhaust, and a cam. Its getting the cam specs thats proving tricky for now. Each shop figures they have their "own" grind and wont release it. Their will be a lot of new support for the LS3 in the coming year or two its a great engine and has awesome potential out of the stock heads ( L92's ) and bottom end.

Re: New LS3

I'm about 6 hours away from having my LS3 swap done in my car.
I bought my LS3 T56 combo from Street Rod Engines in DFW. 557/220 112 LSA on the cam, with the heads ported and polished, 92 MM Nick Williams manual throttle body, and hawks long tube headers. I'm expecting this SOB to scream! I talked with a couple references of this same exact engine builder and one had 485 RWHP, the other had 497 RWHP.

Anybody have any good ideas for building the air intake?

Re: New LS3

Quick and dirty that flows well is get a 4" to 3.5" elbow from intakehoses.com to the MAF and then a 3.5" to 4" straight adapter and run a big 4" K&N filter over towards the fender. You can see mine in the wiring section of the stickies the last link I think theres pics.

If you want something sweeter this guys intake is my fav that I have seen so far the filter is below the fender in the fresh air

Re: New LS3

Yeah, I'm in the middle of a similar swap - the L92, which is the aluminum-block VVT-equipped version. I'm planning on keeping it mostly stock in the short-term, the only mods I'm planning on this year are the L76 intake manifold (so that the engine will fit under the hood), the Hooker long-tubes that I'm adapting to fit, & a copy of the Ram-Air intake that was on the LSx WS-6 cars (already have the hood). With a good tune, I'd expect 425-450 hp at sea-level, which means that I should have somewhere around 380 hp up here...
I figure that'll be more than enough to keep me happy for a year or two, especially given the fact that the new plant will take about 100 lbs off the front of the car..

And once the aftermarket catches up to the potential within VVT, we're going to start seeing some mild-mannered DD cars & trucks that turn into absolute BEASTS when the hammer gets dropped...
