Just wrapping up the rest of lt1 swap, installed an aftermarket temperature gauge and its reading over 200, and spits the water/antifreeze back out to coolant tank continuously. any suggestions

Re: LT1 overheating
You have to purge the air out of the system with the vent screw in the top of the waterneck on the water pump, make sure you have a towel under it to keep the water from dripping on the Opti.

Re: LT1 overheating
How do you have everything hooked up? Have you bled it? Have you bled it some more? It really can take a while to get all of the air out.

I did try bleeding it once but same results. I did not hook up the 2 small necks under the radiator cap neither, but I did find my water pump leaking from its weep hole

Re: LT1 overheating
I am running a third gen radiator. The one right below the cap is overflow for the reservoir. The big one under it is a heater return from the core. If you are running a 4th gen radiator it is a little different. The one under the cap is the overflow and the one beneath that is to the steam vent off the back of the heads. Where is your steam vent hooked?

Re: LT1 overheating
You need to hook that up to relieve pressure in the rear of the heads. An LT1 runs between 215 and 230 stock.

Re: LT1 overheating
Are you going from an automatic to a manual? The mounts are different. There are two types of torque arms also. One faces one way and the other faces the other way.

Re: LT1 overheating
Are you using your factory torque arm bracket? Factory torque arm? How exactly is it not lining up?

Re: LT1 overheating
Pull the crossmember and try lowering the transmission down and see if that helps. It might give you more room to maneuver the two peices.

Re: LT1 overheating
ok I have a new waterpump and the reverse cooling lines are hooked up and the air dam is on but she still is getting hot.It is fine when idle going from 170-190 at idle, but when I accelerate the temperature goes up 210-230+. the coolant in the coolant tank holds up ok, never gets too low, never get to high

Re: LT1 overheating
are you seeing flow in the radiator while it's idling? Normal temp on an LT1 is 190 like any normal engine, other than when idling and stock temp for the fan to come on is 220.
