I know that the 4L60eE is electronically shiffted and I am wanting to use my 700R4 tranny, how will the LT1 ECM act with those wires for the transmission not hooked up? Thanks!!!!!

 

You will have to get a lockup kit for the converter, you may end up having stall issues due to not getting a VSS signal from the transmission and you'll have to run a '93 TB so you can hookup the cable to the transmission.

If you can find a 4L60E, you will be better off.

Yeah dont even bother with it, someone on here did it but took alot to get it to work. I swarted to try it then went with a t56

 

I've posted how to make this work several times on this site. There might even be a link in the LT1 Q&A sticky thread at the top. TCI has released a product recently that would allow the 700r4 to not need a tv cable which means you wouldn't need the 93 tb or the 93 tv cable. I think it costs $200.

With or without TCI's new product, its pretty easy to do. However, get a 4L60E if you can.

That only works with '88-up TH700's, if memory serves.

It's a better transmission.

 

The 4L60E is a better transmission than the 700R4, even though people say they're the same, the internals are better and by the time you bought the parts to put the 700 behind the LT1 and make it to where the transmission is sending the correct VSS signal to the LT1 PCM, time and labor, you could have bought 2 4L60Es

 

I am going with the 4L60E, Klortho after what you wrote about the cost I was thinking that also tonight, Buy the time I rebuilt it and replaced servos stronger drums and the Vss and the new TB it would cost a lil bit more than what I could pic up a good used one for here locally. My 97 Z's tranny went out (tore a hole in pan and burnt it up) I bought a used tranny and had it rebuilt by a local shop and only had $700 rapped up into it!! Started to tear apart My 85 TA tonight! Its work in progress!
