Guageing interest on my iroc-z.
Hey Everyone.
Im going through some rough financial situations, and after finding out the trans i have will not work with my motor, im not feeling there is any way i can afford another transmission & the rest of the parts to complete the swap anytime soon, as i may be without a second vehicle very soon. Im very upset that i will be unable to finish this car after all the time ive spent working on it, but i feel there is little i can do at this point, as i dont want the car to just sit around, and i need to have a vehicle to drive.
At 17, its still my first car, and ive spent alot of time on this car, so its going to be very hard to let go of.
So, here's what the car is, without the motor/trans:
1989 Camaro Iroc-Z
-Rust free shell
-T-Tops
-Fresh bright rally red paint
-Fresh black painted engine bay
Here's whats done to it:
Plastic 99+ Fuel tank with fuel lines for Returnless LS1
LS1 rear differential with the LS1 brakes
3.73 Richmond Gears
LS1 Front brakes with brembo rotors / PBR Pads
4th gen dash, with 4th gen interior
Dual Guage pod (no guages in it yet)
Ultrasuede Headliner, speaker covers, headliner extension.
LS1 Aluminum Driveshaft
K-member with LS1 mounts welded on
Magnaflow Catback
Here's the parts i can include:
5.3L LM7 Engine w/ proper swap parts - Painted Chevrolet orange
F-body Accessory drive
Wiring harness modified to fit into thirdgen
Basically all parts to swap the motor in except for a transmission
Asking $7200 for everything
$5000 for roller (no engine or swap parts)
Im hoping to avoid parting the car at all costs, and i dont want to get rid of it at all, but im going to need to get a working car, and i cant afford to finish this one. Im hoping to pay back my debts and still be able to afford a decent early 4th gen. Guess ill find out.
Thanks everyone

Man, I sure hope it works out that you don't have to sell it... Best of luck.

Hey Guys, good news. The junkyard up the road from me got a 2000 GM Pickup in last week and it has a 4.8L with a 4L60 in it.
Im pretty sure it will work for me, $250 for the trans, convertor and flexplate, im going to take a look at it after school, hopefully it is exactly what i need & the project can continue.

Make sure you can get an f body tail shaft on there for the torque arm mount. Either that or make your own relocation bracket beside the trans on the trans cross member thats a waaaaay better way to go anyways but it will take some time to make one nice. I did that exact thing if your curious I have pics somewhere on here I'll dig up for you
Glad to hear you found something

Right on - you've got too much work into it to pass it on to someone else now...
