winter projects FINALLY done!

This took months longer than planned, partly due to a serious delay by a perfomance shop. This started off with just a power steering cooler and then I decided to add a remote reservoir for it as well.

Since I added the resoervoir half way through the project, I didn't do enough research on it. I had a reservoir with the inlet and outlet on the bottom and I didn't think of the problem until everything was in place! The return line to the pump had too much of an incline and I thought the pump might starve. I searched more and found a reservoir from PSC Motorsports that had the outlet on the side. I called them to discuss my problems and they mentioned getting my PS pump output modified, especially since I have Hydraboost brakes. I had a month to finish the project and he told me it would be a 2 day turn around, so I sent it in.

2-3 weeks went by and I still didn't have the part, so I called them. I had asked them to install a -10 AN fitting on the inlet side of the pump and they were having some problems getting it too fit; they also waited about a week before they even started on it (2 day turn around?). I waited until the first week of May and I called again, they said the part was almost finished and it would ship the next day. 2 weeks later I still did not have the part, they didn't ship it until May 20th! During all this they never kept me informed, even though I stressed I had a short timeline. This is the worst service I've had from a shop, so be warned if you try using these guys.

Anyway, here are some pics. It's a -6 line to and from the cooler and a -10 from the reservoir to the pump.

The battery tray was cut away and I built a mounting plate to hold the reservoir. The return line as pretty level now.

Here's the 18 inch Derale heat sink cooler, just under the front bumper.

I also cleaned and painted the underside of the car. I'm glad I did it because I found some surface rust under the road grime.

I removed "GTO" from the fuel rail covers and bought some stainless steel "Firebird" emblems off ebay. I also painted them silver and dark grey. I like it!

Finally, on my Formula hood I removed the flat plate on the bulge and replaced it with aluminum mesh, this is the same mesh I used on the dash speakers. There's also a shield behind it to keep too much water from getting on the engine.

That's it! next winter I'll replace the other fluid reservoirs with a matching aluminum pair, so it's slowly looking better
