LSX exhaust question
Does anyone know if a tubular k member is installed, is there room to route the driver's side exhaust under the motor between the oil pan and the k member? When I made my first post about the LSX swap, it was in the engine area. I didn't know there was a special section for these swaps.
I found a lot of the information I needed in the various sticky posts. Also, ghettocruiser has a lot of good information that has been very helpful. So far, I haven't found a very good answer to routing the y-pipe. If I can find a way to run the exhaust under the engine, I should be able to fabricate the needed pieces to make the stock y-pipe work. I've even considered fabricating my own k member and routing the exhaust through it. That would only be as an absolute last resort. I'd like to do all of this change over with off the shelf parts.
Also, I noticed somewhere that the 4th gen long tube headers won't work. Does anyone know where the problem areas are for these?

Re: LSX exhaust question
Mufflex is coming outwith a custom y-pipe to fit Hawk's long tubes for lsx swaps. Call and ask for Denny. He can explain more on the crossmembers they can accomidate with this Y. If you decide to ditch the manifolds and goto headers atleast you know you can have something thats now pretty much a bolt on system.

Re: LSX exhaust question
Does anyone have any ideas concerning the fitment of 4th gen headers? I know there are supposedly problems, but what are they?

I can't say from personal experience, but what I understand is the undercarriage is different under the floor pan. 4th gen headers kick out right where the 3rd gen support member goes. Only way you could use them is with major tube mods, which will negate any savings from buying the 4th gen pieces.
