Two things...

Hey guys, I hope that this isn't going too far astray...

First off, I wanted to give credit (and a big CONGRATULATIONS) to our humble moderator - yesterday he started as one of 475 drivers who were battling for the top spot on the local production of Pinks All-Out. Although there were several quicker & faster cars in attendance, he battled his way through the field to become one of the FINAL 16 cars, & I'm guessing that all of you will probably be able to see him on your TVs when the show airs on Oct. 09. Congratulations five7!
(Image below is kind of large, dial-up users may want to go get a cup of coffee or something...)

Second (just to keep this SLIGHTLY on-topic so that he's less-likely to delete it), can someone please take a look at this picture, & confirm for me that I've gotten the correct fuel filter for this swap? The two lines coming out don't look (to me) like they'd be able to hold the 61 psi line pressure that the LSx engines need... The PN printed on it is 10299146.

Thanks guys.

Re: Two things...

So I see your going with a vette filter w/regulator. Yep thats the right one. Surprising how much pressure sheet metal can hold..lol. And congrats to the Moderator!!

Whoa, how'd that get on here???

You realize that image is the exclusive property of Pullin Television. . .

That was the last time trial Saturday, the only arm-drop we got before "the call", and without knowing what you ran. I ran 11.95 @ 112 (quickest and fastest ever) & 12.01 @ 110 (a screwed-up run) on Friday, and the first run Saturday was a 12.05. There were a bunch of 11-sec cars out there, I figured that was the class that would get picked, and that first run Saturday just took the air out of me.

To add a little drama, they called in two sets of 16-cars - a 12.0 and 12.1 set (too good to pass up, they said). My number was the first one called - I about fainted. I had pretty much given up hope of making it (see above). The "fast" set of cars had to "defend" against the "slow" set of 16 to get into the "real" 16 - left lane was the "fast" cars, right lane the "slow" cars. If you saw the win light in the right lane, you know the fast car got owned. It was a roll-down pair-up (whoever you rolled down next to is who you ran), I got a local kid running a stick shift 'Stang back-up car on nitrous. He went zipping around me at the top end, but my light came on. He told me later he was MPHing at 115. A couple of the slower cars were disqualified for going too quick, but at least 5 (didn't hear the exact number) got into the 16.

After that they had us fill out a bunch of paperwork, put cameras and lights in our cars, mic'd up the drivers, and ran a bunch of exhibition cars. The waiting was pure torment. We were paired up for the final 16, I was in the 2nd pair down the track. I thought I left well off his arm drop (Tim - what did it look like to you?) but the other guy had an immediate length on me and held it to the finish line. I didn't know if he left early or was too fast (didn't think to turn on the radio to hear the PA - oh, yeah, I was mic'd, everything I did would be recorded) but hoped it was one or the other; they lined us up in front of the grandstands while the rest of the 16 ran off, then started us forward to hear from Rich - the guy I ran was ahead of me, after talking to Rich he moved behind the starting line so I knew then I was done (he was taken out by the winner in the semi - they kept referring to him as an "underdog", so he must have been one of the slower cars).

There was other drama, but it didn't involve me, so I'll let you see it for yourself on 10/9 (it did involve the winner).

They did a couple of other interviews with me, not sure how much of it will get on the air - probably a little. My shut-down area comments will probably get on the air.

Funny (to me) side note: I was surrounded in the pits by people chosen for "Pinks All Outtakes" features. One of them, a chick running her dad's '98 Vette, ran a 12.02 the first run Friday. Her dad, one of the better-known but not more-respected racers at the track, turned up the nitrous so she ran 11.5's after that - if they had only known. . .

Okay, one more side note - the 6 racers around me they shot features on, I've raced all but one of them sometime in the past. The only one who's ever beat me was my pit buddy, who I deliberately red-lit against a couple of years ago when we met in the final of a race series in which he was at the top of the season points, and I wasn't registered in that class. But, I'll take the air time I'm likely to get over what they're likely to get.

Re: Two things...

OK, thanks for the confirmations guys. Just to make sure, when I attach the high-pressure rubber fuel line to it, I just use high-pressure worm-type clamps? If so, I'll probably double up on them. (Before I got this part, I was expecting something with threaded fittings, or a QD-type fitting, or something more... positive, I guess.)

Thanks again.

Yea i just used the dorman fittings for the quick connect, attached efi hose to them with doubled g-clamps. never had a leak, never had a problem.

Re: Two things...

If you want something more positive you can always use these: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

They can get spendy though with braided line etc.. but they hook right up to the factory quick disconnects, performanceplumbing.com has them also..

I run them with a mix of hard line and braided on my setup, but rubber does fine to.

Excellent, thanks man, that's just what I'm looking for (although you're right, it's definitely a $pendy little sucker...). I already have the hose, so I'm covered there, NOW I just need to get that weird fitting for the other (large) end of the Corvette filter/regulator... Search button, here I come...

Thanks again guys.

Re: Two things...

My personal choice is to go with the fittings from performanceplumbing.com But of course DOH they don't exist since that address no longer works for them. the website I wanted to steer you to is purechoicemotorsports.com

in fact here: http://www.purechoicemotorsports.com...rod/prd181.htm
Those are what I run with 6an on both supply and return...
