Just remove everything. Simple as that. If you want to get rid of the HVAC box, you'll need a heater delete box. Do a search on here for those... You can use ones from astro vans or S10s if you cant find a thirdgen specific one.
If you want to go the distance, grab a heat only control panel online or in a junkyard somewhere to completely the deletion.
If the system is charged, you should have it sucked out at an AC service center before removing parts.

Wait... are you running the LS1 a/c compressor? If so, its on its own belt. Just remove it all and go.
If not...then post what your setup is. You might be able to get a shorter belt depending on what you have going on.

that would explain why there are no ac delete kits, what about the piece thats in the firewall? just un bolt that? is there anything to bolt in there in its place?

why does the delete box stick out so far? shouldnt it be a flat piece that just seals the hole in the firewall?

The HVAC box just bolts to the firewall...correct. You take the top half off, and remove the EVAP core. Then its a few bolts on the outside, and a few bolts on the inside to remove the whole box. Then you are left with openings in the firewall.
If you want to retain heat, you will need an heater only box...commonly referred to as the a/c delete box. You need it to not only cover the openings, but to provide a space for the blower motor to work correctly.
If you dont care to have heat, you will just have to seal those openings up. You can do something elaborate, or you can just RTV a big piece of metal over the openings. Either way, you'll have to trim a couple lips off the openings so the metal can lay flat. You'll see what I mean when you get it apart.
Not much more to it. No way to have heat without the a/c delete box. It only sticks out a few inches. Looks a lot cleaner and gives a lot more room in the engine bay than the HVAC box does.

only a few inches? thats good, im limited in space and any more space would help, that last spark plug wire is almost impossible to get to. any idea how much an ac delete box is? dont need a 1le aftermarket will work, but not sure where to get them.
