block stamp (wrong block got screwed buying?)

i bought what should be a lt1 out of a 94 z28. The numbers on the side of the block say 327!!!! when i got it the heads were off and the intake. So i just need to know if i got the shaft and should go busting down doors. The numbers on the rear passenger side i can't really make out but i think they say "10125327" and the driver side has the gm 5.7LG SGI(or T) with F164 under that. Any help would be appreciated

Re: block stamp (wrong block got screwed buying?)

if it says 5.7 then arent you fine?
im fairly sure my lt1 has 327 on it a few places on the block, but it is definitely a 350 5.7...

if it has the motor mounts on it they may have lt1 cast on them.

If it has 5.7L, then you are fine. Run the numbers on mortec.com. My LT1 block has the numbers 327 on it.

Re: block stamp (wrong block got screwed buying?)

If it says 5.7 then it's a 5.7 (350). 327 is just the last 3 digits of the casting number and it was a coincidence that it said 327, that doesn't mean it is a 327ci.

Re: block stamp (wrong block got screwed buying?)

Everyone is correct. 327 was the casting number and has nothing to do with the engine size. The L99 (the 4.3 v8 many confuse with the LT1) has like 805 or 508 or something like that cast in the same spot.

Nothing to worry about. You got exactly what you paid for.

Re: block stamp (wrong block got screwed buying?)

thank you all, i really didn't want to sound like a dumb @$$. I knew 5.7 is 350 it just kind of made me second guess myself. I always just seem to have that kind of luck, you know without bad luck i would have no luck at all....lol. thanks

Re: block stamp (wrong block got screwed buying?)

dont mean to contradic all the post, but i also bought a lt1 with a 327 marking on the side and front, thinkin it was a 350. after a few weeks i had it sitting i cleaned it and discover it was the 4.3, how i found out is the only way to know for sure is to look a the back were the bellhousing goes, it will say 5.7 if its a 350 and 4300 for a 4.3. I heard about 588 on the block, but mine does have the 327. just letting you know

I have a 4.3 just like you are talking about and it does not have a 327 cast into the side of it. If it has 327 on the side it IS a 5.7 lt1. Not the L99. Tear it down and measure the bores if you need to but it isn't a 4.3.
