Cam only N.A. ls3 DYNO NUMBERS E85 :) :) :)

Car is a 92 firebird
Here she is folks. I'm VERY pleased
http://s650.photobucket.com/albums/u...=dynograph.jpg

507WHP 465TQ
Engine specs
stock ls3 bottom and heads,
cam: 232/242 591/591 112 +4
Throttle body: 92 MM Nick Williams
Headers Stainless Steel Works 3" secondary through X pipe dual 40's, dumped at rear axle.
Car is tuned for E85. Corn is good
I saw a min-max of 5-30 HP/TQ gain from 92 to E85 across the board.

Curious what injectors you used. I've been running E85 in the '57 since 2006, and am now putting together a stroked LQ4/L92 head powerplant for it, haven't decided yet whether or not to stay with E85.

Nice! Makes me confident that my 6.0 will make a decent power curve with a cam about that spec! Thanks for posting!

Re: Cam only N.A. ls3 DYNO NUMBERS E85 :) :) :)

60's, however, don't remember the duty cycle. I do know that I had maxed out my walbro 255, and had to run the racetronix hot wire kit. When I first dynoed the car I'd get to about 4500 and the fuel psi would hit the floor..... With the racetronix I haven't had any issue. Walbro seemed to think the 255 alone would be good to 500-525 Flywheel HP. The hot kit would support on up to 600-625. Flywheel HP, My pressure is set at 67 psi.

Five7kid,
what CR you thinking you'll run? I'm thinking the next upgrade on my 6.2 will be to increase the CR. to 12.5-13. Most have picked up 50-60 whp making the jump. The E85 seems to do well with higher compression.

that is plenty stout!
so ur still at stock ls3 scr, what is your dcr with that cam?
increasing the scr will definately cause a significant increase in power and tq across the board.

we'll see I can get away with a lot more since it'll be a carb, I don't have to worry about idle quality at all Hoping to squeeze as much out of it as possible, I've run really rowdy gen 1 motors on the street for what limited street driving I do. Don't mind a big stall or 1000 rpm idle.

If I go with E85, 12:1.

Thanks, I try to keep the car looking clean. I've bought a lot of parts on here from fellow thirdgen-ers to keep it looking tip top.

Nice results!

Is that other pic your dyno from that day? AFR is really rich, would make more with the right AFR.

Re: Cam only N.A. ls3 DYNO NUMBERS E85 :) :) :)

This gives you an idea of what the car sounds like with the cam. Right around 1:30 in the video you can hear the lope. It's very cyclical, will lope for a few seconds then out, then lope, then out etc.

The dyno tuner I took it to worked for lingenfelter for 20+ years and was able to get another 42 HP baseline out of the car, then add on the E85 and we came to the 507 shown in the graph above.

I wish I would have kept my foot in the car on the dyno, however I was trying to avoid bouncing the rev limiter. He seemed to think I might have hit 510 if I kept going to 6.5-6.6. Rev set to 6.8

If they're thinking gasoline and not E85, they are going to be fall short. Need more volume with E85.

why not take it to higher rpms? looks like its still rising or just starting to level out. Looks like it would pull to 6800

really nice numbers tho

didn't see arp rod bolts listed in his mods, probably why he didn't spin it as high? or his worry about banging the limiter?

Re: Cam only N.A. ls3 DYNO NUMBERS E85 :) :) :)

On the higher RPM, both assumptions are correct.

No ARP bolts. Rev limiter is set to 6800, and didn't want to bang the rev limiter on the dyno.

Had I kept going I MIGHT have seen a couple more HP, however in the end, I'm happy with what I have. though a 510 would have been icing on the cake.

That thing is beastly, I love the soundof the flowmaster 40's on there as well, do you idle it high? Sounds smooth for such a large cam.

Idle was initially set for 750. It really wanted to chug buck and heave at 750. Seems to like 950 better.
