Question about 6.0L

I have access to a 6.0L from an 04 Cadillac Escalade for $900. I'm wondering first of all, is that a good deal and is there anything that i need to look for in particular.Thanks.

Re: Question about 6.0L

That is the LQ9, it is the best 6.0 you can get really, you can mill the stock heads and get 10 to 1 compression if you like, or leave it 10 to 1, but it is a great engine.

Re: Question about 6.0L

from what i understand not all 6.0's were the lq9's. as i understand only the ext models were lq9's. if you look it up only the ext models had the 345hp engines.

Re: Question about 6.0L

I think all Escalades had the LQ9, i could be wrong. The EXT must be the chevy truck.

There's nothing wrong with it. It was running fine when taken out and has been sitting at my uncle's shop for a couple of months. I'm pretty excited either way because I'm finally on my way to removing the carb'd 305. Now I need to find a complete LS1/6 intake,f-body accessories and oilpan setup and i'll be good to go. I can't wait. Any tips and assistance will be accepted.

Re: Question about 6.0L

The casting number is easily seen on the heads. If its says 317 its the good engine. 317 heads are basically LS6 Z06 Corvette ports with larger combustion chambers so they can be run on regular grade fuel
