hi well i have my motor a 02 lq4 now thank god still not sure on the kmember i will use i here alot about the truck in take is to big it wount fit under a stock hood well i dont wont a stock hood would like to know how much it sticks up and how much clearence i need. Some things on top of that in take i dont need is there any way i could cut or grind some parts down to get a little more room i am wanting a fiberglass hood

this one it says on fbody motorsports that you gain 2 inchs of clearence would this work for me

 

IIRC the issue is that its very high towards the front of the engine thats the real pita. I think theres some pics of how the truck intake looks sitting atop a third gen LS1 swap on the boards somewhere but its probably going to take some digging to find them and to be honest I cant say for sure if it was on this board or not where i saw the pics.

Im sure one of the other boys who've started with the truck engines will chime in

ok let me run this bye you got a buddy that has a metal shop is there any way i can get a bracket made that will move the alt down or out alittle to clear the hood from the earlier thread and if i can do that would the intake from the truck clear that hood thats

 

Do a search on LS1tech. Alt relo's are common

Its still doubtful a SS hood will cover a truck intake
