3rd gen/4th gen alternator
OK, this is my prob...Haven't recieved the LSX427 w/D-1SC with the M-90 computer they supply.
I'm trying to use the 4th gen connector for the alternator but I have the third gen wiring in there too...Stand alone computer set-up..
I was going to pull the plugs out of the 3rd gen connector and put them in the same spot on the 4th....going to try to find a diagram on the 4th gen
alternator set-up
My question is does anybody have a diagram, and is it possible to do this!!!

Re: 3rd gen/4th gen alternator
No diagram, but no, do not use the 3rd gen wires on the LSx alt. It should be 100% controlled by the PCM
If M90 doesnt control it like the OEM PCMs did, then wire it like a carb setup in this thread

Register at autozone's site. They have lots of great electrical diagrams for our 3rdgens as well as the 4th.

Re: 3rd gen/4th gen alternator
In posts 150/151 in my LS3 swap thread i show the wiring diagram that i used including connection to the alt
I am running all new 4th gen / LS standard accessories and using the GMPP controller for the LS376/480.
Your controller will be a little different, but in the end it is basically an enable signal that goes to the "B" terminal of the alt from the controller
Hope it helps

Re: 3rd gen/4th gen alternator
Erased the whole thing..aahhhh.
Well this is my deal, thanks pocket for the info.. I understand the alternator set-up on the 3rd gen part, with the brown going tom the Fan 20amp fuse and power for 12v deal...so can some one pin point me to the right diagram.
Its from a 06 Vette alternator, I see where you said wire it like a carb, but the wiring confused me alittle, sorry.
Plus all my accessories are being shipped with the motor sense they wanted to fit them..when they dynoed the motor....thanks for the help again

Re: 3rd gen/4th gen alternator
Its pretty simple, does the new PCM have alternator control? If it does, wire it direct to the PCM. If it does not then wire it like a carb setup be using the inline resistor

Re: 3rd gen/4th gen alternator
hey guys well a quick question,
I was messing with the connector on the 91 Camaro and noticed a letter
pattern, and on the Delphi plug for the Vette alternator has nothing!
So is the S-F-L-P(with clip facing the ground goin from left to right)
the same on all GM plugs...cause with the wiring diagrams I've seen from u'll.
I believe I can do it..lol
The M90 should be in Wed with motor and goodess so I can find out more if it
has a ECM hook-up for Alt. thanks

LSx alts use the more standard connector pin identification for A, B, C, D
If you look in the LS1tech link you will see both pin names used for the old timey guys. Dont let it fool you, your new connector will not use the SFLP identification. Luckily, it directly corresponds to DCBA (reverse order)
