which walbro fuel pump?

In searching for Walbro fuel pumps, I found a bunch of in-tank pumps that are 255lb/hr pumps.

GSS342, GSL392, GSS340, GSS341, and GCA758-2. The last one is the one specified for our cars, but it comes with a bunch of other crap that I don't think I need. I've seen somebody here mention that the GSS340 is what came with their Hawks kit.

So... which pump? I want a stock-type in-tank replacement that can support high horsepower. It also needs to be able to provide the LS1's 58lbs.

Re: which walbro fuel pump?

I wish I could tell you the exact part number of my pump, but I do know that all I did was search on summit's site for a 255 Walbro pump that was stock style, in tank, and it came up on the search just fine.

The GCA758-2 is what I was planning on getting for Berlinetta #2. Not sure how much HP I'll end up making, but should be in the 400+ range.

Re: which walbro fuel pump?

From what I can see, the GCA758-2 is just one of the other models, plus a bunch of other crap that has no use, and it's $25-35 more.

Re: which walbro fuel pump?

I'm running the same one that I have in my Mustang, wish I could remember the part number, but it works just fine for me....it came with a plug to splice into the original wiring in the tank and haven't had any problems at all.

Is the "other crap" the install kit? You need the 6" or so of submersible fuel hose, short adapter harness and the strainer

Yeah, that would be the "other crap". I can live without it. Fuel hose is plentiful and cheap, I can make my own adapter harness, and if I can't source a new strainer for a couple bucks, I'll reuse the one in the car... it's only been a couple thousand miles since I replaced the fuel pump anyway.

Re: which walbro fuel pump?

make sure its truly submersible. I put a regular fuel hose in my tank on the sled, and it lasted less than a year before it got mushy (110 didnt help either i suppose)

Re: which walbro fuel pump?

I am using the GSS340, but then again I havent fired my car up yet to make 100% sure it's right. It was a direct fit though.
