LSx/ 4L60E guys... What shifter cable are you using??

Hey all, I've gotta a slight dilemma on my hands. I recently swapped out my TH400 thats behind my 6.0L LQ4 and replaced it with a built 4L60E that came out of a 1998 Formula. I also did a nice true dual exhaust. My problem now is that I keep melting my B&M shifter cables. I can't run a factory style shifter cable and bracket because my 3" Stainless works longtubes hit where the bracket would be.

What other style of shifter cables would work with this setup? Im running a stock third gen 1990 firebird auto shifter btw.

Thanks,
Chris

Flip the shifter cable to the other side of the lever and use the stock cable. Hawks has posted several pics of what is required to run LTs with the 4L60E

I think I wont be able to do it because My vband connection hits the cable bracket. Idk if grinding it would help any either. I may have to just get creative with the B&M shifter cable. Something as flexible as the factory shifter cable but longer would be great!

Get an exhaust shop to move the connection and run a decent cable. Exhaust can go anywhere, the trans cable is fixed

I just verified and the factory shifter bracket hits the 3" collector, along with the vband. I'll just have to get creative in routing the new b&m shifter cable.

can you get some type of heat shield on the pipe? You're not really supposed to wrap the shifter cable because they say it can sometimes trap more heat on the plastic.

regardless on my old th400 setup with custom true duals, I hammered in a fair amound near the shifter and covered the cable in radiant aluminum tape and never had an issue. maybe a combo of the 2 could keep your cables from frying
