no alternator output

Car: 1989 Pontic Trans Am GTA
Engine: old 350TPI/new LS1
Transmission: old 700R4/new 4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.27 stock
no alternator output

verified that my alternator is not putting out..i was wondering if anybody has a wiring diagram for a 98 camaro alternator or anything that could help..i have the big black wire goin form the alternator back to the battery and the signal wire is hooked up...question...is the signal wire a positive wire, or is it grounded through the computer?? I looked thru the stickies but couldnt find anything..thanks guys

98's do not use the PCM to control the alt. Just a dummy light. For a swap, you must either use a light or resistor to know the voltage down on the signal wire to prevent the alt from burning up

See if you're getting any voltage on the alt connector with the IGN on. If you are and it's less than 12v then have the alt tested at a parts store. If its 12v or higher, add a light or resistor inline. The alt most likely will be burned up

No voltage on the wire means its not connected properly. Recheck your wiring
