Finishing up 6.0L swap need some help
Need some clarity abot a few things. I was told by the guy I bought my accessories brackets that the hole to be drilled and tapped is a m10x1.0. But the thread on this site about truck motors says another size, I believe M12x1.5.
Also in these pics can anyone tell me what these Are on my intake manifold. In the first pic the hole on top and the side, in the other pic that tube out the front of the intake on the bottom side.

also before I start the engine is there anything I should do, aside from putting oil in it

Re: Finishing up 6.0L swap need some help
First hole up top on the back of the manifold is for the MAP sensor, the tube on the left/drivers side is for the brake booster, on the right/pass. side I am not sure about, I don't believe mine has that (LS6 manifold). It will likely be unused for your swap though, probably need to cap it.
On the second pic, the small brass tube on the underside of the TB is the coolant orifice, which you can cap off, I don't want coolant running through my TB, if you are talking about the one with the tube/black sensor attached to it, I believe that is the EVAP solenoid, which on my swap was just removed and capped.

Nope, the edelbrock headers work. They are direct replacments for manifolds, and that means that they clear everything like the stock manifolds. Definitely the best option if you can find a used set cheap vs buying Hawk's LTs

M10x1.5mm
Take an accessory bolt with you to match the tap if you dont want to guess it or remember it
Rear of intake:
Left, brake booster
Middle, MAP
Right, HVAC vacuum port
Front of intake: EVAP
TB tubes are physically part of the TB, not the intake. You can cut them off if you please. The steam line(connects all 4 corners of the cyl heads) must be connected to the coolant system. Lots of solutions exist, do a search on steam line
Vacuum caps are common at local parts stores. Do yourself a favor and buy the assorted kit. Its awful handy

Re: Finishing up 6.0L swap need some help
ok so i got the alternator tapped and drilled out. now just need to get some loose ends tied.
I got a radiator/fan combo for an LS1 camaro and wanted to know how it mounts in the stock location. the plastic cover from my third gen doesnt fit.
my transmission is from a 04 GTO and the shaft you connect the shifter to is longer than i have seen in swaps here. it close to the driver floor board but i need to know how to mate my third gen shifter to it.

Re: Finishing up 6.0L swap need some help
thanks pocket, but i just dont get it because i didn't disassemble it the first time and the service manual is very vague with no accurate pics.

i don't see where to mount it. there's one hole in the back of the tranny side shifter and one in front. if you have some pic thats the most helpfull cause my is to close to the floor pan. may have to push back on the floor pan.
also these hoses in the pics how to hook them up

thanks for all the help. i cant say it enough

Re: Finishing up 6.0L swap need some help
Slide the U thing off the trans shifter. The nut is already gone so just pop it off. You'll need a 3rd gen 700R4 arm, so hit up the JY, trans shop or a dealer. Once you get the arm on there, the cable will only fit in one spot, which is exactly 1 bolt forward of the 700R4 location where it goes on the pan
Pic #3 is the coil connector, you can see the coil is missing
Last is PCV. Route it around the intake to the port at the front of the intake thats currently plugged off

Re: Finishing up 6.0L swap need some help
thanks Jon. any ideas for mounting the 2000 camaro radiator/fan assembly. i understand about the tranny bracket (a bell and whistle went off in my head).
how is the pulley removed or installed on the power steering pump?
the throttle cable i bought for the swap is smaller than the stock firewall hole, any neat looking ideas or is that a custom job?
on my third gen harness that i prepped the coolant wire (drk grn) i dont see a connection for it in my diagrams, is there some other way?
and i have a truck harness i am using but using an F-Body alternator, any changes there with the harness. it has 2 wires one grey one tan?
i am going to start it this weekend ( remember oil and gas, antifreeze before turning the key) wish me luck

Re: Finishing up 6.0L swap need some help
I used the upper plastic mount from a '95 for my LT1 swap, drilled holes in it to use the factory mount location, it should work for an LS1 radiator (they're pretty much the same dimensions). You also have to put a hole in the lower support for the round mount to go into on the passenger side of the radiator.

ITS ALIVE........ITS ALIVE.........i feel like i just lifted a dead horse off me. First off I want to thank Pocket and fellow TGO members here and the site for being very helpful. its like you guys are in the garage with me. I couldn't help but to want to crank it up for the first time ever, and after spending an hour double checking my connections, adding gas and synthetic oil, replacing a broken coil with my fiance's help it started. now all that's left is an exhaust system, new leather seats, and back to the paint shop cause i scratched it up bad. so pics

the projector headlights were surpose to be black so i have these for sale (make offer, pay-pal preferred and will ship in us only)

white face gauges are a clean original look

in the pic above if you can see it i have a cut out for fender vents like the tran-sam still looking for a way to mount them with out screws, to add a new look. any one know if the Pontiac f-body fenders fit the 92 camaro the i could just use those.
more pic to come as i wrap this project up i will do a nice writeup and i detailed cost to the tee for the not so mechanic guy like me
