Re: N2O Assisted LSX T-56 Into an '89 IROC!
Idk i think i might leave it too, no one ever sees the a arms, and the K should be overlooked by the motor . Would rather spend the money on making it look better IE coil covers (cause everyone at a show would ooh and aah at a "vette" motor lol) even though i got my underside all purdy and tubular in the rear, not many people bend down at shows to look! Maybe i should get some 10x10" mirrors and prop em up...

Quick ?, what throttle cable are you guys using? I searched and found info about the washer to hold it tight, and don't want to spend the coin on the lokar

Re: N2O Assisted LSX T-56 Into an '89 IROC!
Early vs late LS1s had different throttle cams, so you have to match the cable to the year. Just grab a non-traction control cable from a 4th gen matching your TB
The hole in the firewall is significantly bigger than the new cable so you need an adapter plate. Drill out a piece of flat stock or a big fender washer to the same size as the cable end then either bolt or rivet the adapter to the firewall. For my swap the cable was still loose so I added two more bolts for a secure fit

Getting at it again, have alot more stuff on it's way and I'm now onto the fuel. Pocket, you said that a 97 1500 truck pump will work? I've found this Bosch pump http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=978009 for $60, but am wondering if i should just get the walbro 255 cause that's what everyone uses? If this bosch pump will work for a healthy heads cam 6.0 i'll use it since i'm changing over to a standalone for n2o.

It will fit and work for a stock-ish engine. OEM are walbro 190lph's
For a hot engine, might as well cough up another $40 for the 255 kit

Re: N2O Assisted LSX T-56 Into an '89 IROC!
made a final decision to go the l92/ls3 setup. need to decide on what TB to use...think a 102 is too big for a stock ~90mm intake? only reason i ask is because ebay has some good 102's for a decent price, and people on tech say they work
Also, before i order again through rock auto, does this sound like the correct 4th gen high pressure pwr steering line? EDELMANN Part # 80229 16mm Male O-Ring x 18mm Male O-Ring x 32 1/4" Pressure Line Assembly seems a little long to me

A 102mm TB is almost a half in bigger than your intake neck. I wouldnt go that big unless you're hogging it out to match. EBAY TB's in 90-92mm are within $10 of the 102's

Same image as this. It might actually be that long if you measured it from tip to tip

Re: N2O Assisted LSX T-56 Into an '89 IROC!
I bet it is that long.
Side note: i bought 823 l92 heads and a ls3 intake today! heads are complete with rockers etc, and the intake comes with rail inj map and bolts. Got a fantastic deal on them. All i need is dual springs, a TB, and cable mount and the heads and intake are ready to go!
Does the ls3 fuel rail clear the truck coils without having to be bent? It looks like it does as the inlet's on top of the rail compared to the ls1 which is below.

Does the non TCS throttle cable work for the ls3 intake/NW throttle body? I'm pretty sure it does just want to confirm.

Also have fuel system and injector adapters coming tomorrow.

The connector is for the old cruise control governor, right? If so, then you probably won't need it.
The plastic ball is the reservoir for the HVAC. You probably want that (with the proper check valve between the manifold and the HVAC tee).
Forgive me for not reading through/remembering all you're planning. The intake was a crate take-off? My LS6 intake/rail/injectors was, and although zero miles, it did have fuel run through it (I believe they dyno all LS crate engine?).

^ Thanks for the help! I hardly use the HVAC, infact i've never used it since i don't have the non AC blower motor. I think it would be alright without it? If it's not i can always run a vacuum hose and put it back on.
Yep the intake was off a crate motor, makes sense now, that's kinda cool they test every motor.

Re: N2O Assisted LSX T-56 Into an '89 IROC!
^ sounds like i should put it back on then. I might try and move it to under the battery so i can put my filter where the ball used to be. Can't wait to work on it this sunday again, going to take more out of the engine bay and start prepping for a repaint.
Got Motovatives solid mounts and Patriot Xtremes valve springs for a great price too! it helps when you talk to them to get a discount and free shipping haha
Also have a few questions:
-what throttle cable should i use with a nick williams 92mm 4 bolt TB?
-with a 370" motor, big cam, 100 shot of n2o and a t-56 what rear gear should i go with? something around 4.10 or even taller? eventually it'll get a 9". mostly a weekend warrior, wont see a track on the ten bolt
Thanks!!

Re: N2O Assisted LSX T-56 Into an '89 IROC!
Just a little update: Buying a rebuilt t-56 with zero miles on it! This is what it it...Built T56 out of a 2001 C5 Vette with 23k miles. This is a triple coned synchro tranny. Transmission has been converted over to F-body setup with an LS1 bell housing, tail housing, midplate and many upgrades. Bronze shifter cup, bronze fork pads (all 8), Billet keys, Steel Shift fork, hurts short shifter (minus shifter ****), SSR 32 spline output shaft with new housing and seals. Also comes with 32 spline output shaft slip yolk. All work and parts is documented. The viper output shaft is 30 spline. Comes with a diamond stage 2 clutch, billet steel flywheel, and brute force throw out bearing. Has zero miles since the build. The clutch and flywheel are still sealed in their box.
Can't wait to get it! Even tho i don't have the motor done yet to bolt it to haha.
I am bringing my camera home this weekend to take pics of my engine bay progress, stuff comes out pretty easily when you can stand where the motor was!
Also, does anyone know the answers to my 2 questions in the above post?

To help answer some of the questions, I bought a Lokar throttle cable to use for my stock tb and it works just fine. Its adjustable also which is nice. I'm thinking if you want to save a few $$ then I would believe the stock throttle cable will work as well?
With your setup, I personally wouldn't go any taller then a 4.10 gear.

Some more questions:
SO i bought one hell of a 6 speed and now my mind is on the trans side moreso than motor haha
-What do i all need for the hydrolics?? I've got a slave cyl and speed bleeder...i assume i need the tick master and a resevoir? What resevoir? And then i need to mod the clutch pedal like BLueZee did and everything should work?

The Tick comes with its own resevior, no worries there.
From what I've read, the Tick is the way to go. No stuck clutch pedals, no problems.
I've been using a Tilton 1" with a fabbed bracket for about 5 years and I'm just planning on keeping it when I go LS1/T56 this fall. (LT1 T56 I currently have is already spoken for...man these trannys have crazy demand)

I apologize, it does not come with its own resevoir.
Here's the bracket from Summit
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TIL-74-212/
This is the resevoir I have.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TIL-74-203/
For the price they are asking, they should definately include the complete system. I know mine had everything I needed and it was around $100. I did have to fab a bracket, but as usual some fabrication skills can save big bucks.

I do have to move the reverse lock out switch/solenoid thing to the tail shaft. I have some 1/4 aluminum plate that i'll make a block off plate for it (the vettes have the reverse lock out on top as you see in the pics)
Also got the springs and mounts in, still waiting on GM to ship my ls6 valley and KMJ performance for the head studs

I apologize, it does not come with its own resevoir.
Here's the bracket from Summit
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TIL-74-212/
This is the resevoir I have.

For the price they are asking, they should definately include the complete system. I know mine had everything I needed and it was around $100. I did have to fab a bracket, but as usual some fabrication skills can save big bucks.

^^ not the ones that bolt to the motor, i'm 99% sure on that. You got the motor mount stands that bolt to the K (which will come with the K) then you got either the clamshells, or solids that bolt the motor to the stands.

But...I do have this MS paint diagram I made to illustrate. Sorry, not a CAD drawing. I used good thick steel so it wouldn't flex, and getting the angles right takes some measuring and time. But once its in, its a bolt in bracket that has held up just fine for me the last 5 years.

Get motovatives solids or make you're own. PM motovative or call them to get a better price. I've found that about 90% of shops will give you deals if you personally talk to them...
Can't thank you enough good sir!! That'll save me a bunch of time
I don't have a pic, and my car is currently 1200 miles from where I'm sitting.

^^ That bracket paired with this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TIL-75-875U/?rtype=10 plus a line that a shop is going to make for me = the $300 tick piece...
It's how i'm going to do it

You'll have the exact same Tick setup for shifting...for 1/3 of the price!
Be sure to use Loctite, and you may have to cut the bolts to size since there's not much room at the bottom.
