Finally: 1986 Iroc-Z LB9/700R4 to LS1/T56 Swap
After seven months of searching for a wrecked ls1 fbody, I finally have one. In those seven months I ended up buying two ls1 fbodys. The first one was intended for the swap, but I couldn't bare to rip apart a semi-good fbody. So two months later I finally have this wrecked 1998 Trans Am WS6. This was a beautiful car, and looks to be well taken care of. I wont actually be performing the swap until I get rid of the Trans Am (6 Fbodys and no space), but I couldn't help posting
.
Parts I plan on keeping from the Trans Am are;
LS1/T56
Entire Dash
ECU/wiring harness
Z06 Rims
Brake conversion, pads, shocks and springs(if they'll work on the Iroc)
...
Some details about the Trans Am:
Speedline Z06 18 x 10.5 with Nitto NT-05s.
Spintech Muffler with Flowmaster 3" catback
Pro 5.0 with brand new hurst leather ****
SRP black pyramid grid pedals
C6 front brake conversion w/Kore 3 calipers, stainless lines & Porterfield pads (less than 3k miles)
Koni Dbl Adj Shocks w/Strano Springs
UMI chrome moly dbl adj panhard & rear control arms
All front steering/suspension brand new (tie rods, ball joints, end links)
LS1 stock, T56 stock, 10 bolt no TCS
Stealth box with Kicker Solobaric and MX Audio amp

Is there any more damage to that car besides the front bumper/hood? that's a nice looking Trans Am. Thread Starter

Re: Finally: 1986 Iroc-Z LB9/700R4 to LS1/T56 Swap
I'd hack that one up without a second thought. Two reasons;
1. Even clean ones are going cheap these days they just are not worth much anymore they are pretty much hitting the spot third gens did when these cars were new.
2. Most importantly it looks pretty clean and not entirely beat which MANY of them now are. Not that the engines really wear out they dont but the trans and otehr supporting bits and pieces get aged quick with high mileage and/or lots of punishment.
Im sure there will be plenty of stuff off of it you can sell as well so lots of plusses to it IMO. Good luck

I wish I had the money to pick up a wrecked LS1 F-body... It would make my life waaaaaay easier... You will be able to use most of the parts for a swap though... Now let's see pics of the other 5 F-Bodies!!!! lol

Very Jealous here! That car is perfect for a full on swap. If I were you I'd just take everything from bumper to bumper, wires, interior, everything.
Naturally the sails back in interior panels wont fit, but nearly everything else would! What a neat project you got going, I'll definitely be watching this one!

I want to see the pictures of the rest of the fbodies you have lol
Are you going to be selling the other LS1 car since you're using the WS6 for the swap?

x2, I think him or one of his buddies was trying to sell a silver 98 ls1/t56 on the local craigslist here not too long ago. I'm not sure if he sold it yet but I was gonna ask if they would be interested in trading for a GSX-R, but didn't get around to asking.

Yeah I've had it posted on craigslist, but I think I'm going to hang on to it. I'll keep it until maybe the swaps complete.

I think I remember seeing a list of your cars but haven't even seen a picture of them.

As for the Z28, is it wrecked also, or just a high mileage car? $5,000 doesn't sound bad at all if it's not wrecked and is high mileage, that's about what they go for up here anyways.
