Motor upgrade question

Ok, if any of u have been following i am going from a stock lt1 to a 383 lt1 with a cam and fuel injector upgrade. Now should i install the motor fire it up using the prom that I have then tweak the it? or should I have the computer programmed pryor then tweak it again? What would you or have some of you done?

I have asked a lot of questions and have gotten some great advice. Here are some Advance Auto coupon codes for you DIYers. I been picking up parts for cheap all summer!!!! Passing them along as a thank you. If u dont like Advance u can at least stock up on oil and filters. (and brakekleen)

Apply 20% off entire order coupon code "P20" on it (Expires 08/31/2010)

$10 off $30, $20 off $50, $30 off $100 w/coupon code "ES123"

Apply $25 off $60 w/coupon code "BIG25",
$30 off $75 via coupon code "BIG30",
$40 off $100 w/coupon code "BIG40"
& get $50 off $200 via coupon code "BIG50"

Re: Motor upgrade question

saw these a couple days ago too, i ended up using 2 of these this weekend myself

new gaskets, some oil change goodies (oil's not allowed on the coupons though), and some new tools.

as for the startup, go for it if you have some tuning software to watch what's going on inside the motor. just keep an eye out for pings and running too lean

that may be temporary because i have bought mobil1 b4 using a coupon. I remember because walmart usually is .50 to a dollar cheaper. thats the only reason i bought it from AA. or maybe they have done away with that option.

Re: Motor upgrade question

I would have the PCM tunned befor you fire it up unless you are just going to see if it will start and shut it back off.

Re: Motor upgrade question

I didn't even think it would run, but I was told that it will. I am trying to debate wether to just send the pcm off to someone who has done a lot of them and leave it at what they program or get it running then tweak it at the track. Leaning towards just sending it off.
