what crossmember? a stock one? or aftermarket like Spohn or something? Does hawks make their own, idk? can you trim the mounting flange to clear where it hits the Alston SFC mounting flange?

I thought about trimming but it would be trimming alot!!! Even then it may not fit on the passenger side. Its hawks brand cross member for the LSX swap.

i think i found the link on their site, and it looks like there is a lot of material hanging off the tail end og the subframe, if thats what in the way, chop it off, it doesnt do anything.

definitely interested in seeing pics. I was thinking of getting alstons and this member for a better exhaust fit.

Re: Hawks Tranny X member issues with SFC?

Ok, it wont fit even with chopping. First pic is with the held up on the driver side. The outline in red is the alston mount. I can chop 4 inches off the hawks member and be ok. Second pic is passenger side. The lin represents what I would have to chop off. Needless to say the cross weld point is on that other side. no dice...

Re: Hawks Tranny X member issues with SFC?

its a spohn piece i would think. Im pretty sure thats who Hawks sells. Bluezee28 and myself have both come across this problem. You have to cut a bunch of it off for it to clear the alston subframe connectors.

Re: Hawks Tranny X member issues with SFC?

Spohn piece is very bulky and makes exhaust routing difficult

Id notch out the material to clear the SFC then weld a plate over top to get the structural rigidity back and clear the SFC point. Grinding some of the excess metal off the SFC wouldnt be a bad idea either

Its not the spohn one. Its their own brand. They sell their brand and the spohns.
