Okay, I'm happy with my mild 305 tbi. It has a small cam, headers, intake and big block injectors. However- I have an lt4 out of a 93-94 corvette now sitting on my floor. The previous owner put in a large cam and has a carb styled intake on it. I'm weary of the LT series due to the whole 'opti-spark' getting wet issues, but I won't even be using it. So, in short - would YOU put in the lt4(if it were "free"), keep the tbi system to run it and all that has to be paid is installation. I have the autoprom, so tuning is not an issue.

Concerns - I have a t-5.

a/c & power steering works very well.

Most of the LT4 benefits are from the injection

 

Keep the LT4 just like Pocket said yup, keep the carbed intake on it and put TBI on it? no no no, buy an LT4 intake and put the FI back on it.

Questions you need to be asking: Is it just a LT1 with 4 bolt mains? Does it have stock LT4 heads, aftermarket LT4 heads. or stock/aftermarket LT1 heads? What exact kind of intake manifold does it have? Did the 93-94 vette have a 96-97 LT4 swap?

If you are worried about the optispark getting wet issues, buy a dynaspark that's triple-sealed.

 

It was out of a late model corvette, I figured that was a 93-94. It does have the stock aluminum lt4 heads but not the stock cam. A .503/.510 cam is supposedly in there. He couldn't find anyone to tune the 'vette, so placed a carb on it.

I was going to place the tbi system on it, since I can tune it. I don't feel like replacing my harness, computer and buying injectors. My current injector setup can be lightly modified to handle the extra power available.

I'm just going to try it.

More like he was too lazy to re-tune so he opted the easy (he thought) way out and killed all the benefits of modern EFI

 

Or is it the LT5? It was in the ZR-1 corvette which ran until '95. Lotus engineered that bad boy. Looks like a sterioded version of a tpi. Heck it's my profile pic.... See!!! lol!

 

As far as I know, there are no carb intakes made for the LT5. LT5s are worth enough money that when somebody has one, they KNOW they have one. They also don't put a carb on it.

 

And while you make a lot of sense in your post. There also countless stories of folks that went beyond the realm of sense. In this day & age, you just never know anymore. lol

Moe Bailey lives in san antonio. He tunes Tony SHepherds 8 second LT Car. San Antonio has one of the best LTX tuners aside from ed wright. A google search would have turned this up.

not yet, I became a bit distracted with a young lady. I have a centerforce clutch ready, so maybe for christmas I'll put it it.

 

I'd most definitely swap in the LT1....and if its from a 93-94 its not a LT4, just for reference. LT4's were only 1996 corvettes. I'd say HELL NO to TBI, its the worse FI setup you can get imo. I'd most def stick w/ the LT1's sequential FI, its a million times better than TBI, which is garbage. For free you can't go wrong w/ the LT1, go for it!
