Speedo Problem with CableX
Hello,
i have swap the LT1 and T56 Transmission from a 96 Trans Am in my 89 Camaro. To get the Speedsignal to my Dash i have use Cable X. No i have A Problem. In the Test Position, the CableX show 16 MpH on the Speedo. I have put the switches on the 1040 Pulses per mile Position(4000ppm * .267). But the Electric Motor donīt rotate if i drive. With a OBD II diagnostic tester I get a signal. I also passage of the management at the board to contact G C220. When I turn on the ignition I have about 6 V at the line to ground.

Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
I'm not sure on this one but, is the CableX getting the signal straight from the VSS or does it go through the computer first then to the CableX? IIRC the CableX box needs to see the signal straight from the VSS and not through the computer first.

Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
If you have it going to the VSS output wire from the LT1 PCM, that is a 4000 ppm signal.
Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
Do not hook it up directly to the VSS. Use the speedo output from the PCM to drive it. That should be 4,000ppm, which it's expecting. No adjustments needed

Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
I have use the VSS output from the ECM. I know its a 4000 ppm signal, but with the Cable X 30 you have to multiply the pulse with 0.267. If it would be a to low pulse wich i set, the speedo would have to show too much. But my problem is it show nothing. I have try to use it without mechanical Speedometer, but the Electric Motor donīt rotate.

Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
Sorry for posting misleading information, I didn't realize that the LTX computers were that much different than the LSX computers as far as the VSS and all that goes. Again my apologies
Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
As far as the VSS is concerned, LTx/LSx are the same. They used 11ppr for 93 T56, 17ppr for 94-02 T56, 40ppr for 94-02 4L60Es. All output the same 4,000ppm to the speedos

Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
On the cable X box there is a test mode which will drive it to a preset speed (i think 60mph if i remember right for a couple seconds)... have you tried that with your cable to your speedometer hooked up to make sure you don't have too tight a bend and it is binding?

Re: Speedo Problem with CableX
Lately I have try it with a closed 12th switch(weaked signal). It works, but up to 20 mph, the speed varies to much.
Where do you have install the box?
