Y pipe Size for LSX

I'm dropping my car off at stainless works in 2 weeks and was wondering what to do with the Y pipe. (They are only 15 miles away) I have 2.5 collectors on the SW heades now. 3in collectors would not work with an auto trannys shift bracket and I got them used at a great price. Do I do a 2.5inch into a Y and then to my catback, or merge up and go with 3in after the collector? I think I'm going to have an issue because I have a spohn driveshaft loop as well so It will need to get around that as well. Am I killing alot of power doing 2.5 into the Y vs the 3in into the Y? Dont ask how much they are going to be doing it for.... Its the only place around that does high quality top notch stainless bending and fitment. I've visited a few shops and their welds looks like crap. I know if I take it to SW it will be done right and look great.

Depends on the mods.. im doing the same 2.5 merged to a 3 on a 500 hp ls3 and dont expect much loss.

Your lucky being that close to them, id kill to get them to do work at any cost. Cost me 200 bux in shipping/duty/tax for their headers.. **** canada.

Its around $700 because its a one off piece they quoted me. All the other shops are like 300-350 with cheap metal and crappy welds. I want it tucked up and to have it look nice.

WOW. Glad I went with manifolds now lol. BTW I am using a custom 2.5" into 3" ypipe as well, although the motor is near stock.

dual 2.5 inch may be a restriction but you're stuck with the headers you have, so the bottleneck is there, go ahead and just get a 2.5" y-pipe that has a flowmaster merge piece in there to 3" catback or 3.5" catback.

Re: Y pipe Size for LSX

Got the car back. Looks nice. Since I have the spohn Bolt in DS loop they have to put the Merge way behind that. And since under the tranny x member is the lowest point in the pipe I had them run it straight to the merge vs tucking it all up in there since the lowest point has already been established. They also suggested that as well and said flow would be better since it was only 2.5 pipes as well. Is probebly duel till about 2 feet from my rearend. Also had them install a resonator since there is no cats. Car is very quiet now lol.
