LTX and LSX Putting LT1s, LS1s, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.

Take a look at these 4th gen mid length headers, do you think they could possibly fit

Take a look at these 4th gen mid length headers, do you think they could possibly fit

I know I know, everyone says that 4th gen headers won't work in the LS1 swap, only the shorty style. But my dad's '98 Z28 that he bought had these mid length headers on it, and maybe it's an optical illusion, but they don't seem to flare out to the sides that badly. Do any of you guys think they might possibly work? I have no idea what brand they are, don't see a name anywhere on them. I can get some measurements if it would help you guys figure this out with me. If you want I can measure how far away from the bell housing the collectors stick out, etc.

Unfortunately, no they wont fit

They do this on both sides. Front bolt it in, rear bolt is still about 1" above lining up. I doubt a tubular K would help either because it's laying on the A-arm pocket

conversion headers aren't much more than those, might as well just buy headers made for the car.

Those are LSx conversion headers. I am probably going to buy a set of those, after running mids on my 4th gen I really don't want/need longtubes. The BRP mids work plenty well enough to run 9's on.

mybad, I misread his post, I thought he was saying to get those headers and weld LSX flanges to them.

I thought hawks was the only one offering LSX swap headers for thirdgens, that comapny has alot to offer.

anyone have a set of those yet? the flat collector idea weirds me out a little as far as how wellit'll clear everything. but they are cheaper than hawks stuff.

Me too, there's a reason the collectors are typically round, and that's so the exhaust pulses will help "pull" the adjacent cylinder's exhaust out, the collectors should also follow a rotation, where the collectors are matched to the firing order.

Scavenging is minimal with a full exhaust so collector shape means nothing

Use the '01-02 manifolds... they actually breathe quite well, as good or better than a set of shorty headers.

Care to elaborate?

That just goes against what I know of exhaust scavenging, there have actually been proven power gains over standard collectors by using a "2 into 4" style collector
