Re: Lsx swap mpg

5.3/4L60E/2.73's

N/A, 27ish highway driving like I stole it

With the blower, 20ish highway, 15ish city

LS1/T56 cars commonly hit 30-35mpg pretty easily, just dont go huge on the cam

Re: Lsx swap mpg

Just remember in the great Republic of California you are limited to what type of LSx motor you can put in your car due to emissions, and have to retain all emissions equipement for it to pass.

My '98 with 188k miles on it gets around 27 on the highway with a T56 and 3.42 gears on a very long trip, but my daily driving nets me around 25.

I actually thought my Fuel sender mod didnt work when i first started driving mine the mileage was so damn good the gauge seemingly took forever to move off full. I hammer the snot out of it and it truly gets phenomenal mileage

Lol same here, during break in!!! This was coming from a cammed 355 with a holley carb.

I average about 18-20 as a daily driver with a combination of spirited driving, stop-and-go traffic(Cali)., along with some freeway miles. Not bad for a head and cam set up making about 400rwhp.

I get 20 MPG with driving on the freeway and a bit of stop and go with a carb. Now, when i beat it like a step child, not so good.

2000 LS1/4L60E, stock cam, shaved 317 heads, LS6 intake & injectors, Hawks long tube headers into 3" cat-back with single in/out Magnaflow, 3000 stall lock-up converter, 3.73 gears, short 24" tires, stock tune. 24.8 mpg on a 793 mile round-trip weekend before last. Return trip was from low elevation to high, was bucking a good 30 mph headwind for the last couple hundred miles.

I don't have a good reading on commuting mileage yet. I don't have the speedometer working yet, was using the Garmin for the above data.

Motor mods in my sig. Built T-56. Strange 12-bolt w/3.73s.

I avg about 30-32 Hwy, and overall avg about 25. Only a little less than my 2.0 auto Jetta. And Im NOT easy on it.

Re: Lsx swap mpg

6.0/t56/3.42's. I will admit the only time I have calculated my mpg was on my trip to power tour which was a mix of highway driving, city street driving, and two burnouts. I got 19mpg on that tank. I'd imagine if I was a little easier on it I could get high to mid 20's. It's got a pretty nasty cam so I don't expect to see the optimal mpg for an ls motor.

Re: Lsx swap mpg

my tpi setup managed around 22 city, 30 hwy with a cam, heads, 3.42's and a T56

plus it ran mid 13's

My lt1 swapped 3rd gen avgs 21-23 city, 39-31 hwy with 3.42's and a T56

so I at least expected that kind of mileage when I spent the money for the lsx swap.

Re: Lsx swap mpg

Thats weird... You should be getting better than that just on gearing alone with the T56.

My 305 TPI NEVER got close to what my set up does now. It was like 20 on the highway, 16 in the city...MAYBE.

Are you running a huge cam? Is your tune spot on? Something seems weird there since Im modded a good bit more than you and pull much better mpg. Unless you have one nasty cam haha.

Re: Lsx swap mpg

Nope, nothing too radical with the cam.....

my TPI setup had a T56 behind it too, so thats something to consider.

Re: Lsx swap mpg

The T56 really helped you out. My old LO3/Auto peaked at 32. It was worn out barely hitting 25mpg when I pulled it. 91 GTA made 25mpg through a bone stock L98/Auto

Id still take my measly 5.3 over both of them

Re: Lsx swap mpg

my 99 z28 with bolt-ons and a T56 with 3.42s got 27+ driving 90 miles round trip to work with HEAVY 17x11 Zr1s and 315 nittos. wasn't really driving for gas mileage either.

My 6.0L/700R-4 nonlock-up/3.50 gear carb setup gets about 15mpg

Thats why im converting to efi.

That's good to know for me lol. I want to build a LQ4 similar to yours, your power output is what I'm looking for. What cam did you use?
