While the rear end is out, upgrade fuel pumps *again*?

I'm hunting down a good rear for my car, been talking to Cam- about one of his 8.8's or maybe getting a 9". I'm hoping to have one in the next few weeks, so when I get my 10 bolt out of the car, I was thinking of possibly adding another Walbro 255 in the tank. I've already got one in there, but with the possibility of going turbo later down the road, figured it would be much easier to add one now then later. What would you guys do? Does the dual Walbro's sound like a solid plan or would you ditch the Walbro all together and get something totally different?

Re: While the rear end is out, upgrade fuel pumps *again*?

Hmmmm now that's an idea. I wonder how it would work if I just added one of those in my tank along with the Walbro 255. Think they'd behave together nicely? Or would it be ok with just that one Aeromotive pump if I end up with a turbo later down the road?

I would upgrade gas tanks if you haven't already. I like my LS1 tank a lot better. The thirdgen tanks are known to leak at the filler neck especially if the tank was never replaced during the recall for 91-92 tanks. The LS1 tank has a "cup" where the fuel pump is held to supposedly to always keep fuel around the pump so when you go around a corner with a 1/4 tank of gas the engine won't cut out from fuel starvation. LS1 tanks are easier to install/remove since it sounds like you don't want to do the fuel door access modification.

I bunged my tank with a -10AN line into an aeromotive A1000.

Cant go wrong that way, recommended hp upwards of 1200 capable on FI cars

If you dont like modding in that aspect, then do some Racetronix in tank pumps

Filler neck issues are safety recalls and GM will have to honor them until all 91-92s are gone much like the seatbelt receivers

A dual pump setup in a LS1 tank requires cutting the bucket so any benefit it might have given will be long gone

A single aeromotive pump should be good for a ton of power. Id be going that route if I hadnt ordered a pair of 255's already

The new aeromotive pump looks promising. Might have to get me one for future mods

Re: While the rear end is out, upgrade fuel pumps *again*?

I dont want an LS1 tank because I don't feel like messing with modding any wires or lines to make it work. My setup is awesome I just want to get a better pump for future use

I do have a dumped tank with an fittings but it would need to e cleaned out and I am not sure how having it would affect the fuel gauge, if any?

as long as the sender is still in the tank, the fuel gauge will not be an issue.

Re: While the rear end is out, upgrade fuel pumps *again*?

Why couldn't you of posted this ad a day earlier...I just bought a Walbro 255

I would have definately prolonged my build for that aeromotive pump...time to go register on LS1tech....

Re: While the rear end is out, upgrade fuel pumps *again*?

I will be using a A1000 for mine, but there are several guys on TTF using dual Walbos with no issues. Otherwise, a A1000 with a sumped stock tank in what i am going with for my 86 TA with a single turbo.
