That PT98 is insane! It looks like something off of a jetliner. One day I might just throw a little blower on the GTA. For now Id be happy to drive it.

Re: Got an LS1 Third Gen? Come on in!
Thanks....It was a fun daily driver in the summer and ran low 10's. DVD player.. subwoofer full interior and never been on race gas. Just plain old 93pump gas. Not bad but not enough either Lol.
I'll be starting over from scratch almost. Nothing I had in the engine bay will work with the new engine.
Intercooler is too small now... radiator is too small.. 5" downpipe however is right Lol. But will have to be cut up and all re-done. Mid and front plate for the motor now.. I'm thinking about staying TH400 but not 100% decided yet. Rossler says I could break the converter at the new power level. Somthing I don't want to happen on DragWeek.
It will stay very clean with the new build for sure... Just much more work all over again.
But I have to change everything to be competitive in the SmallBlock Power Adder class.
Dropping 2seconds isn't easy!

The bigger superchargers have come a long way in the last several years.
There's some guy's making good power with them.... I'm a Turbo guy so I'm stickin with
them till somthing get's proven to make more power with out taking much to make it and
is reliable to street drive... Maby some day... lol

The interior is just about in. Rear shocks are on. Just exhaust and a few loose ends to go before her alignment.

Looks real nice! I like the interior and steering wheel. Solid dyno numbers too.

Thanks. Stopped by to check on paint progress. I have to admit I love it. It's dirty and still have buffing compound all over it, but here ya go...

We went to Pigeon Forge to celebrate our Anniversary and discovered the Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge show was there too so we entered the GTA just for fun. It was a goooood weekend.

2nd time at the track. Broke posi on first run. Here are runs 2 and 3.
Going back soon with 3.90's, working posi with T/A diff. support cover, better air and raised shift points

Booyah! 11.22@over 120 in a street car you can drive anywhere. Are the LSX the bees knees or what?
I'm in Ohio too, and I think my car is done for the season. I just did the swap last winter, put over 5,000 miles on the stock internal build, and had more fun with my car than ever before. Its going under the knife all winter for more power (AI 243's, FAST 102, etc), paint, roll bar, interior, and basically whatever else I can improve given the time.
I plan on hitting up Edgewater next year, maybe I'll see you at the track. Lots of work to do between now and then though....

Re: Got an LS1 Third Gen? Come on in!
Agreed. It was one of those leaps that leaves you with a big stupid grin on your face after you land.
The 11.82 was in August so it was hot. We didn't get her back to the track until November 10th. The da was still pretty high at like 1540 or so but Dad pulled a 11.63 at 117.8 and a 11.64 @117mph. Out tuner was there that day and made some adjustments.
This Saturday the wife and I took her to a different track on a really nice day. The da was around 150 and the first pass I made was 11.35 at 120.65 mph. Then I backed it up half hour later with another 11.35 at 120.75 mph. Jenny made 6 passes next trying to perfect her burnout technique so she could beat my time (see picture of her NHRA burnout below from the week before). Her last 2 passes were 11.31 @ 120 and then another 11.31 @ 120 mph.
After that the track officials pulled her out of the car and told her she was done because the car doesn't have a roll bar. So she negotiated a deal... We would cap both cut-outs and re-install the cai, as she explained that the car would lose 24 hp in that configuration, and theoretically run slower than the 11.5 cutoff for the rollbar.
I buttoned the car up and told her it was the last pass of the day and I was making it. Figured she had champ status already and wasn't in any danger of losing it with the car in street trim. Plus I just wanted to know what it would do in street trim but there was also no sense in making repeated runs like that just to run slower than we had all day.
Went up, did my normal burnout, staged, left, banged out a 1.55 60 ft time, a 7.15 eighth mile at 96 mph, and an 11.22 at 121.27 mph!
2 officials were walking up to meet me as I was driving to the ticket booth. I saw the looks of irritation on their mugs as they looked at the slip the elder was holding. They both stared me down and shook their heads as I rolled up. I stopped the car and they both seemed shocked not to see Jenny. LOL
I apologized and expressed regret for what must have been just barely breaking the rules, as I truly was surprised the car could have pulled a 11.50 with the exhaust capped. The Boss just shook his head and grinned as he pushed the folded slip in front of my helmeted head. "11.22!! I yelled as I laughed in glee. You've got to be kidding me!" I asked him if he could hear that the cutouts were closed and he just said "yup, sometimes they go faster that way. Now son, I'm sorry but I'm gonna need your tickets."
I say YUP!
This video isn't the best but at the end you can hear the announce give the numbers "11.22 tower lane, pit lane 11.25." I was tower lane and for the record, the oldsmobile in the left lane (pit lane) red lighted.
I wonder if he later said "And now the firebird is being booted for rules violations."?
It was a great day.

With only a 3,200 stall and a cam that peaks the tq around 4,400 I think there is a lot left in the car. She's coming around fast. Figures it's gotta be track closing time
Oh well, gotta get the roll bar in anyway.

Re: Got an LS1 Third Gen? Come on in!
We just got the car out of the shop. They got the tach to work properly so now all the gauges work. The drive shaft had the wrong series yoke on it so it was replaced, 2 or 3 exhaust leaks were fixed with better clamps, the front 70/30 QA1's were replaced with adjustable 90/10's, a T/A rear differential support cover was installed, and a Spohn adjustable panhard bar found its way under the rear also.
I think we're ready for spring now and a crack at 10's. If we aren't there yet skinnies will go on the front and maybe a custom dual ram air intake that I've designed in my head (OH NOOOO!).

Re: Got an LS1 Third Gen? Come on in!
There's a car just like yours same color and all that sit's down at the tire shop in our town.. the paint is pretty shabby and it's all stock but it's got potential!
Yours is really nice!
I've been through all the track drama with no cage and safety stuff.. .it's a PITA... but you need it for a reason. So a bar will take you down to 9.49 and cage down to 8.49.
Depends on how far you plan to take the car power wise.
Mine's setup for 8.49 right now but I've got a big decision to make coming up weather to keep this chassis and add to the cage (7.49) or scrap it all and tube chassis it. 6.0 cert.
I've got way more engine/trans/turbo than my chassis can handle at the moment so
I'll keep it this way a while till I find a shell possibly and build a tube chassis car.
Here's a couple pic's of what I've been up to..
Hope to fire in the next two weeks.

Re: Got an LS1 Third Gen? Come on in!
Here is a few more pictures and stuff... It's been pretty dependable so far .. Drive around town and to the tracks (almost 200mi round trip)
Last fall went 9.80@147mph with no launch on pump gas and 10.8psi of boost on waste gate spring only...
(Hooking up boost control now)
Thanks guys!
