So im trying to get a hold of a complete lt1 swap and was wondering what would be the difference compared to getting a complete swap from a camaro if any?

Re: LT1 from a Caprice?

4th gen F-body has AL heads, better cam and bigger TB. The heads flow about the same. Some argue that the iron heads flow better. The accessories from the Caprice also stick out a little bit but not enough to make a difference. Everything else is the same.

You also have need to change the tailshaft of the tranny if you plan to use it.

FYI I am selling a running car with an LT1(94 Fleetwood)

Re: LT1 from a Caprice?

A F body Lt1 has aluminum heads so it weighs roughly 50 lbs less. I believe it has a more aggressive cam as well. From what I hear the cast heads flow the slightest bit better then the aluminum though.

Re: LT1 from a Caprice?

the cam profile in a impala/caprice builds a little more low end torque, and as stated they b bodies had iron heads as opposed to aluminum-if its a reasonable price id pick it up,am considering the same swap on one of my cars too

Re: LT1 from a Caprice?

Same TB was used on B, F and Y LT1's

If the B-body LT1 is over $300, pass

Make sure it is the 350 LT1 and not the baby 4.8 LT1.
