LS1 6.0 Exhaust help

any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance. i got my LS1 swap done over the summer and kind of put it to the side because of cash. my problem now is that i purchased a 3" stainless cat back magnaflo system for my 92. i want to upgrade to longtubes when money allows it but i would like to know whats need to complete this. i have the stock 99 camaro manifolds and no Y pipe. i need to know if i can buy a Y pipe for close too if not perfect fit, or is this a custome piece. the exhaust shops around act like this is sooo hard to do without Y pipe. is there a custom piece to buy. thanks again

Re: LS1 6.0 Exhaust help

one92rs, let us know how the BRP headers fit. They've been out for a while but no one has posted a review of them in a 3rd gen. Ive been leery of using them based on the "dont care" attitude the sponsor had on LS1tech to one guys problems in a different chassis. If they are worth it, it'd a be a good way to break Hawk's stranglehold on the swap header market

Re: LS1 6.0 Exhaust help

I to am awaiting the results from someone who have used these. I am interested in them because you can get a 1-7/8 primary where as hawks has either a 1-3/4 or 2".

Re: LS1 6.0 Exhaust help

I just picked up the Stainless Works headers from Spohn. Same headers as Hawks is selling but they are less expensive through Spohn, plus If you go to their facebook page they are always posting weekly discount codes. I got 5% of off the headers and some other stuff I got. Nothing ground breaking, just an FYI.

There is a local shop here in Houston that has used them, they didnt complain about them at all, their IROC went 9s on nitrous, so they must not be bad, they kind of remind me of the patriot big block headers that will actually fit with some modding, but those didnt require anything special to mount up.

Re: LS1 6.0 Exhaust help

Hawks and Spohn are both $799 for the basic 1.75 x 2.5 headers
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ha...enocats-1.aspx
http://www.spohn.net/shop/1982-1992-...s-Y-Pipes.html

BRP offers a multitude of sizes and even step headers for less than that. Collector size isnt listed though

I can only speak for myself, but when you have to call a company to get a shipping quote that's a deal breaker. Gives me the impression that you have something to hide. But that's just me.

or go buy from hawks on e-bay and you can get the 1 5/8 long tubes cheaper than his site and they come with the bolts, GM gaskets and the shipping price there own site cant seem to post... figure that out screw TGO members huh? I think Hawks has everything all wrong here

I think half of that problem is the trans mount and the rest is catback/ manifold flanges

Re: LS1 6.0 Exhaust help

Hmmm...if I could find flanges for f-body manifolds I would consider making Y-pipes for those of you guys that need them as I'm using them to, and my father owns an exhaust shop so I'm spoiled.

Have we already found a place that makes the flanges? As far as I know its still an untapped market.

I would say go for it then but you will need to base it off something like the hawks mount or something everyone can buy since not everyone can build mounts. and the one who can generally build there own y-pipes.

Who is making the flanges now? When I made my Y-pipe I had to make my own flanges. and since stock was 3/8" thick I made mine the same thickness.
