Sounded like we were talking about different parts of the cable
I left mine on the old tranny so I guess I'll have to make this work.

I'm down for the count with the flu. Been fighting it since Monday and decided to finally go see the Doc this morning. Week before that I was on a business trip to Las Vegas, so progress has been halted for now. Just y-pipe and a few minor things here and there that needs finishing up.
No problem. The credit belongs to the board and Pocket. I simply put it all together in one place.
Not at all. That's why I put it out there.

Got the exhaust and transcooler mounted. Made a cold air intake for $80 including the filter....thought that was a pretty good deal. Modified the existing gear selector arm off of the 4L60E since I left the 700R4 on the tranny when I sold it. Now all that's left is the y-pipe which a local exhaust shop quoted me $150 for. That's getting done on Wed. Torque arm is supposed to show up on Tuesday then I'm officially done!
Is there any adjustment in the shifter cable? I'm short about 1/4" for the tranny to shift into park....

Re: '87 Formula Vin H getting the LSx treatment- She's ALIVE! swap docs collection in
Did you make sure you slid the whole selector up a set of bolt holes? Since the trans sits farther back, I had to slide the whole thing up a set of bolt holes, no problem yet.
I cant seem to find it, but what did you use for a throttle cable? I purchased one, and it seems that there is too much slack?

I used an LS1 throttle cable. I just tied a knot in it at the pedal and it is perfect length.

My dad has the same problem with his too, it gets into park but it takes more effort than it should. I'll have to try moving it up a set of bolts.

You cant just hit up the local scrap yard and grab one from a 700R4? It basically fits perfect. I didn't even have to adjust mine, just put the shifter in park and the trans in park, hooked it up and voila.

Going to the scrap yard would be too easy :P If I can't make the adjustment at the shifter I will have to go that route.

Re: '87 Formula Vin H getting the LSx treatment- She's ALIVE! swap docs collection in
So the reveal went exactly like planned. I shocked the crap outta the kid
I'll put up a vid shortly of the first test drive and such, but I have to tell a somewhat amusing story first.
After I got the transmission lever figured out (ordered a new one) I had some issues with a couple of power wires for the transmission that I though I had accidentally switched around. Turns out when the JY drained the fluids they somehow pinched the solenoids power wire. So got that sorted out. At the same time I decided to rotate the tires.
I'm all excited to take the car for it's first true "fully" functional trip, when I hear this horrible clunking and screeching sound. Tranny just took a dump! is my first thought. After checking everything the conclusion is still the same. So there I am fully prepared to take the whole car back apart to pull the tranny and as I am jacking the car up I see a metal shaving trail out into my drive way, almost as if someone had taken a lathe to it.....I look under the car expecting to see an exploded transmission, and what do I find? The struts are rubbing on the inside edge of the lip on the rim. The clunking was the struts hitting the balance weights
I guess the spacers got stuck on the front rims when I rotated them so they are now on the rear tires
Easy fix and one hell of a relief

Got the tires swapped around. Had nothing to do with spacers. Learned that the rear rims are for the rear ONLY and front for front ONLY. Thought they were interchangeable.....evidently not.

It's been a while since I updated. Car is in the process of being painted.
Got her all stripped

Here's something kind of amusing. Not sure if any of you guys have run into this, but if you look at the build sheet that is the trunk (if you can zoom on it) you'll see that the build sheet is for a 1987 Camaro Z28...even the vin number on the sheet is for a camaro

Picked up a set of leather seats front and back out of a 2002 trans am. They are near mint.

And a new axle with posi and 3.73 gears/disc

T-top bar has seen better days. Surprisingly no rust underneath it though. It all seems to have contained itself in the bar.

Keeper pile

All naked

Sanding away

Almost done

Found some old damage. The metal was too mangled to try to hammer out. there must of been a gallon of bondo in this area. Not sure why collision shops don't fix things right. Anyway, cut the old out

New patch is oversize and held in place with sheet metal screws.

This way all you have to do is cut on the perimeter and peel away the metal and tack as you go. You get a perfect gap for weld and a perfect fitting patch.

This is what you peel of the back from the old quarter panel.

That's the update for this week. Working on stitch welding the patch....takes forever. I'm almost done though. Hoping to have the car in primer in the next couple of weeks.

Moving right along. Got the paint booth set up. Took about 5 hours from start to finish.

Intake fans. I get a nice positive pressure with 2 fans.

Exhaust fan

Exhaust routed outside. Made a plug for the door to keep the heat in.

Parts ready for primer

I started a separate thread in the "Body" section since the direction of this build is no longer involving the engine. Didn't feel it really belonged in here anymore. But here are a few pictures of current progress. Will be painting doors and fenders this weekend and start assembly the following week after I get everything cut and buffed.
I'm using all SPI products. The color is called SPI Red.
Car in epoxy primer

First round of blocking...forgot to take picture of final block

Base and clear. Still hasn't been cut and buffed.
