I thought this was interesting, I posted on the ls1tech, trying to find out if i can run my engine on pump gas and e85 gas. Since e85 gas is like 2 dollars cheaper than pump gas in california. I don't know if anyone has seen this but thought it was interesting, Anyways check this link out.....

WOW! Great info you posted man, i've never seen this before. I have heard that the new 2012 5.0 Boss mustangs will come with 2 keys, one for economy and the other for racing and ****, same principle as stated above. Very cool

Yeah the Boss 302 cars come with two keys. One key is for economy like you mentioned. The 2nd key however has red BOSS written on it and will unlock the beast throughout the whole car. Valving in the suspension, cam profile, timing, fuel mixture etc. Did you see the dual exhaust setup? It's literally 2 exhaust systems in 1 setup. It's awesome to say the least.

Re: more capabilities LSX

you can even get by this a bit cheaper - grab the fuel sensor and harness off a flex fuel vehicle and get the programming added to the stock calibration. no need to do any sort of switching, the pcm will do it for you!

Interesting I will have to look into that, my car goes in for tuning at the end of april. So that would be great. So is is just a small harness that attaches to my current harness, or would i have to cut and splice?

Re: more capabilities LSX

i thought i had seen a good thread about it on 'tech, but it seems to be missing. the older flex models got a sensor inline from the gas tank, the later ones apparently used "virtual sensors" (mixed readings from different engine sensors). Not too many seem to have played around with it yet, so info's a bit sparse. may have better luck digging through the actual tuning sites (efi live, hp tuners, etc)

Frost's pcm looks like a heck of a setup though, especially if you want separate street & strip tunes, or adding a towing tune for those swapping into trucks.

I carry a small netbook with Hptuners and flash tune/s as needed. Takes mere seconds

Ever since I first saw this I thought it would be a huge success. Strange so few actually use it

Sure PM me when your ready to fire it up. If I have time I'll do what I can for ya but I never seem to have much time so make a back up plan just in case as I dont want to promise something I cant deliver with certainty.

I thought that about Moates Road Runner too but it kind of fizzled. Odd how some things fly and other things just kind of park.

Re: more capabilities LSX

From the little research I've been doing on E85, I am under the impression that to get the best mpg out of it, an engine would have to be built for E85 having something like 13:1 compression. Some people claim unless E85 is half the cost of gasoline or less, a normal gasoline engine running on E85 would actually cost more money in the long run because the tank would have to be filled more often. I guess what the real question is what is the MPG on E85 vs. MPG on gasoline for different engine setups and engine compression ratios?

I've been investigating and using E85 since 2006. There are a few exceptions, but the primary use of E85 in E85-only vehicles is in racing.

Until someone comes up with an effective way to vary compression with the fuel mix, multi-fuel engines will always compromise performance from one or more of the fuels - and it's usually all of them.
