LSx giving exotics a run for their $$$$ TX Mile

LMR doing some great work!!

239mph 4th gen Camaro on 20 inch wheels & only @ half boost.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2FIfAuPOq4

222mph Corvette also on low boost.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BTKAEwNxjw

Can someone volunteer to have the 4th gen motor slapped into their 3rd gen?

^^^That is a beauty, why is this car in Europe and not the states? Looks like its gone 207mph in the standing mile and can handle turns with the best of them!!!

I really don't think that the exotics (with a few exceptions) are going to be very competitive in a standing mile race. Sure a pumped up 911T or some other boosted car may move with a lot of work, but an exotic car with a 190mph top speed is lucky to hit 160 in the mile.

Top Gear American special.

ZR1 hit 175mph standing mile on salt.
Caddilac CTS-V hit 165mph standing mile on salt (this is the 550hp LSA variant)
Challenger SRT-8 hit 150mph in the standing mile on salt.

The ugr lambos aren't coming back to the mile until their record is beaten due to their crash last october. Also their new car is at 1900+ awhp so they will take their record back easily. It's hard to compete with them when they have twice as much tire and such superior motor geometry.

Standing mile is dominated by awd exotics. Check out this vid...

Need to check that out, I'm guessing they ran the Mojave event based on the slower times. I want to run at one of these events. I'll be happy doing 160mph with my current set-up.

The ZR1 only hits 175mph? Figured it would be good for 185 since the acceleration is so strong...

Very interesting...

Although they need to turbo the F out of it to make it go that fast - still impressive.

Re: LSx giving exotics a run for their $$$$ TX Mile

When I start building my 1989 Formula again, It will be done up for the Texas mile. I think in the end I'm going to go with a boosted LQ4, automatic, and a gear vendors gear splitter. Right now it's just a heads/cam LQ4 1/4 mile kind of car.

I want it low, planted, agile, and powerful, at least 200mph. Then I can go from there.

*Shrug* Someone's always building a faster car.

That's faster than I care to go though... Takes a healthy pair of gonads to do that, wow

Looks like (or is a clone of) the early Banks twin turbo Bonneville cars.

Re: LSx giving exotics a run for their $$$$ TX Mile

It´s amazing that the big red can go thast fast in the standing mile. The aerodynamic capabilities of a 69 Camaro arent exactly optimal för going 200+ mph... Polly Blytt´s Trans Am are just so Bad-***. He takes it to open course track days here in Sweden sometimes, and just covers Audi S6´s and M3´s in tire smoke in the straights!
Did you know that it came to Sweden as a Lingenfelter built car with a supercharged 383 in the late 90`s? Then sold to Norway and thing went crazy :-)

which is worth 10-15mph

the ZR1 actually hit 176.something

the vette that wrecked lost a tire and some infor suggests that the tire spun in the rim at 180.

I love the way that car sounds. I think he's only in 2nd gear when he goes past the 1/4 mile marker.
