'99 Corvette engine and trans into '91 Z28

Hey everyone, new to thirdgen.org. I recently purchased a 1991 Z28, 5spd a few months back. I have been toying with the idea of doing a LS1 swap. Currently looking at a motor and trans out of a wrecked '99 Corvette. Just wondering if those would work. A friend of mine who is more familiar with GM products (I grew up in a Ford family and fixing Mustangs, so GM power plants are relatively new to me) said that the '99 corvette T56 may not work. Any ideas if this is true or not? I have a pretty good deal lined up and would hate to let it go. Thank you

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The '99 Corvette engine is the LS1. So, read through the sticky in the top section of this forum about LS1 swaps.

The C5 transmission is actually a transaxle, so no, it wouldn't work in a 3rd gen f-body (without a lot of fabrication work - which a few have done).

Thank you for the response! That's the answer I was afraid of hearing though haha! I don't think the fab work would be worth it for the transaxle...

At this point, probably just look at scooping up that LS1 and looking for a T56 out of a late model Camaro or Firebird to bolt up to it
