Squealing belt! Vette Setup

Got a LS motor in the Formula with a 1998 Vette setup. Belt is new though. It squeals like mad at all rpm levels until warm, and then just over 1500 rpms. (Not much differant) I assumed maybe a bad idler, but nope. I regreased them with no issues. Its coming from PS area. I just so happened to drip some fluid on the ps pulley wham, squeal was gone for about 20 seconds then came back. I sprayed some wd40 on it and it went away for a little bit. any thoughts? Belt is brand new Dayco. It appears some LS motors have this issue from multiple threads on another site. All suggest the Gatorback. Ideas?

Ended up being a bad tentioner itself, not the pulley. Installed a new Katech unit and it all went away. Nice looking tentioner too!

Ehh the noise came back. Its fixed for good now. Careless me didnt have the crank pulley on enough. A smidge more and now everything is quiet lol. I noticed wear on the edge of the belt.

Re: Squealing belt! Vette Setup

Take a bar of ivory soap and while the engine is running CAREULLY rub the bar onto the belt underneath and the sides so the belt eats the soap up a bit. That should last a while but if not use black silicone and prepare to get a little messy but basically do the same thing. Coat the belt with a light film of silicone and this typically cures it for good.

Its not the perfect solution but sometimes on some cars the belts just squeal no matter what you replace so this works as a last resort
