Dyno numbers are in. "Semi Tuned"
Well, I took the formula to get dyno tuned tonight. Learned alot. Heres mods
67K LQ4 Shortblock Katech Rod Bolts.
LS2 243 Heads Untouched
LS6 Intake, LS1 injectors, and stock untouch Truck TB
85mm Maf
SW Headers with 2.5 collectors
Trick Flow Cam 228/230 580/580 112 cam.
1994 4L60E with 2800 Edge converter
Mild by all accounts.
Got to the dyno on a hot day. It was 90* outside and about 10 more in the shop with thick humidity so I know thats not good tuning weather but we all know "Run what ya brung" After some initial stuff it put down 331 RWHP
Tuned some and it made 347. The tuner noticed that the TPS was showing 86% the entire way. Here my petal wasnt bent enough for the 4thgen cable. Bent some more and pulled 359. Did a cold run and came up with 368. Tuner noticed that this combo should have more in it since it was only at 22* total timing and these cars usually go a little more. We were getting 1.5* retard here and there so we felt it was max, but he added more and took out some sensitivity to see what happened. Up to 24 now. Upon starting up we said something is wrong with the car. The exhaust was SOOOOOOOOO loud. Here on the last run we blew out the muffler. Decided to run anyways and was greeted with 397 and 381TQ LOL. No knock retard also. It was getting late so we are going to go back at it in a week or so with a new exhaust setup and more timing. We easily have 400+ in this car.

Yea for sure. My uploading the graph now. Any ideas for an non restrictive exhaust? On it now was a 13YO edelbrock setup. Only reason I like it is because it looked stock. It sounds mean as hell now with a blown out rusted setup.

this is what is on my car... hawks 1 3/4 into a 3' collector, flowmaster y, into a 3 1/2 inch single pipe and into a 3 1/2 inch cutout and necks back down to 3' and finishes up the maganflow catback. the maganflow catback is nice and sounds good and isnt relatively expensive.

Should be alot more left in it with 243 heads and 6 liters. Keep tuning
Good numbers so far
Is that really on stock LS1 injectors?

White, no idea on that graph. A/F wasnt working on that run. With the prior runs we were around 12:1. This last run was only with 23.5 or 24 timing with 0 retard across the entire run. Were hoping to get 26* out of her.
I'm very happy with this mild combo. 99% all GM stuff and then the trickflow cam. I havent seen anybody else run this cam but I can tell you its awesome.

Re: Dyno numbers are in. "Semi Tuned"
I dont mind loud I just like it to look stock. My car is completely stock looking on the outside and inside. Stock height and everything. Kinda a sleeper look. Thats why I never changed out the Edelbrock exhaust. It has the factory style turndowns. Next it will have a cutout and maybe a 3.5 on there with a single out hidden. Or go 4in? A maggie is in its future. So i dunno.

Re: Dyno numbers are in. "Semi Tuned"
Yup. Stock 28injectors. I got them years ago when SLP had those "take offs" for $100 buck deal. They were not maxed out. It just goes to show you can make power on them and dont need upgraded injectors right away. I followed Pockets fuel system diagram to a tee with with 0 issues. Also running a 9 year old Walbro 255 unit.
I'm prob around 10:1 compression also. No valve float also. I'm using Lunati Beehives which were the cheapest out there, but they performed well.
I think its a good starting point esp for a Automatic.
Also , Jamy is an awesome tuner for Gm vehicles at Smokey's Dyno in the Cleveland /Akron Ohio area. Highley recommended.

I agree with Orr. Just keep tuning and you will exceed 400rwhp easily.

The tuner is thinking 415ish probebly. More in colder weather. This heatwave is not helping numbers!! Sad part is, most of my runs were with the car hot, esp the last one. It was right around 220*

Very nice car. I'm suprised at the power increase with the blown muffler.. I've ran mine pretty hard through a single 3.5 over the axle stock style. Maybe I need to open it up...

Ok I was just curious about it since you were using stock injectors but it sounds like they are working phenomenally.

Re: Dyno numbers are in. "Semi Tuned"
Well guys , I fell in love with the GMMG exhaust years ago and I always wanted one so I bought one tongiht. The origional maker of the GMMG kits is just about 2 hours south of me in Ohio which made it even better. They build them to order now. He said it should be built by Monday and will be mailed out. Alot cheaper then GMMG marked it up lol. I'm still tossing in a electric cutout as well.

I have not been there. I havent raced the car in a few years. If I do race its up at Norwalk which is about 70 miles from me. The closest track is 42 which is about 50 miles away.

New Numbers. 419/399 Dynojet this time and 30* cooler outside lol. 65*Now mid 90's in the garage with the old numbers.. Car at 180-190* vs 220-230*
Same tune. I cant wait add more timing. Only at 24* total timing.
Solid combo for basically a cam only car and an automatic. I dont know why I dont see any other person but me running the TF TEA Stage 3 cam.

I wonder what 3in collectors on my headers would do for power. Right now they are just the 2.5's

Re: Dyno numbers are in. "Semi Tuned"
you may see a marginal gain with the bigger collector, may help you scavenge a little more out of the primaries. what is the idle like on that cam, does it have any lope? i really like the torque numbers on that cam, seems like all the popular cams lack in power a bit under the curve...to wide of a spread between peak hp and tq #'s.

I am not familiar with SW headers. Are they long tube or short tube headers?

The headers are long tube with 2.5 Collectors and to Jeff above, yes Jamy is the tuner. Been friends with him for the past 8-9 years. His shop is located in North Canton Ohio. Top Notch Facility. "Smokeys Dyno"

But Im only running a hair over 10:1 compression I think being stock LQ4 dished pistons and 243 heads shaved 10.
The cam drives normal. Excellant for a daily driver!
I will for sure get sound clips for you guys this weekend with the GMMG Exhaust. Smooth idle at 800 RPM's Pulling 14HG's

Re: Dyno numbers are in. "Semi Tuned"
With long tube headers you should have a 3" collector. Believe it or not your build is very similiar to mine and if I was using long tube collectors PipeMax calls for them to be 3".
I thought this was interesting in that I am running Dyno Don shorty headers PipeMax calls for 2 3/4" collectors which I did do.
