Concerning differant options with LSx
I have a chance to get a LS1 intake to oil pan with a bad wrist pin for 500. I already have a 5.3 nitrous fed that needs a tune but I want to do a turbo build before the tune. My question is should I hold off on the turbo build get the ls1 and rebuild it? Or go through with the turbo build? Or forget the turbo, sell it and just get it tuned for nitrous and call it a day?

Depends how much you want to spend. What are you doing with the car? If you just plan to run it at the track I would be looking for an lq4/lq9 setup. A boosted 5.3 > modded n/a ls1 imo.

Most just to have a fast street car. I do enjoy going to test n tune nights. But I don't race computation unless its bracket racing maybe. For cost I may can talk the wife into letting me spend 1000. But less is always better. Seeing as I already have one turbo I guess I should just continue that direction.

I'd go with the boosted 5.3 out of those 2 options. I'd be worried there could be additional block damage to the LS1 and there's not much cleaning you can do to those cylinder walls.

I hope you dont have a dog and outdoor doghouse..because the two of you might be spending alot more time together out there lol.
On topic though hard to say what to do.5.3 on boost are very good builds for the money vs power and mileage. If you wanted to stay NA then id lean more to the ls1 with a fresh build and a few upgrades.

A sweet street car I would say would be a 6.0 with a small turbo, would make for a hell of a torque monster!
LQ4/9 turbo or stroked ls1 turbo would be a power combo that would be cheap.
What is done to your motor you have now?

Stay on the track you are on. Finish the race then decide if you wanna step up a class. Otherwise you might just end up with 2 unfinished projects and a discontent wife.

Competition, dang autocorrect. I guess i should have spelled it right to begin with.
Well, I chose not to mention it yet, just got her a puppy and I will get a baby sitter and take her out this weekend. Dinner and movie, then I'll pop the question

Re: Concerning differant options with LSx
I would go with the 5.3/turbo. I don't feel you need to spend money on an LS1, then rebuild it, and in the end, not have that much more horsepower stock. Unless you are going to build it big. Depends on how crazy you want to build it I suppose. My brother just did a 5.3/turbo w/T56 on his 4th gen, and just put down 580 RWHP. Thing is fun as hell to daily drive, and all kinds of power when you want it. Plus used 5.3's are dirt cheap! Just my $.02. Good luck!
