94 lt1 with 4l60-e into 92 camaro with 305 and 700r4

Just bought a 92 camaro with a seized 305 tbi and 700r4 tranny. Since the engine is just a 305, I don't want to bother to get it fixed. I can easily get my hands on a lt1 and a 4l60-e for only 625$. What I want to know is will the headers from the 305 fit the lt1 and which wire harness would I use. The one off the lt1 or the one off the 92 camaro. Also what is the estimated cost, not countin the 625 for engine and tranny? And can i keep the a/c?I am new to this site and new to engine swaps. Never have before.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

You will use the LT1/4L60E harness and PCM. You will need to graft that harness into the chassis harness to power the engine and get your gauge functions.

Whether the headers will work depends upon which ones you have on the 305. Most 1-5/8" primary tube headers will work okay, even if not completely ideal. 1-1/2" primary tube headers will bolt up, but will partially block the LT1 exhaust port - not good.

You can keep the LT1 AC. What you have to do depends upon what the LT1/4L60E came out of. If f-body, then you'll have to notch & box the front of the K-member to provide clearance for the AC compressor. You will have to have custom hoses fabricated and the system evacuated and charged.

Cost: This is typically a do-it-yourself project. Are you talking about having a shop do it, or what else you need to buy to do it yourself? I'm not sure I'd trust a shop estimate for the job, unless they could show they've done it before for other customers. If you're doing it yourself, it'll be things like hoses and throttle cables and wiring supplies.
