ECM Mount Location pics

I am going to mount my 95 LT1 PCM in the battery tray area. It is tough to search for pics of how other people mounted the ECM. I want it to be as neat as possible and securely mounted. I am trying to get some ideas on how I want to mount mine.

Obviously extended .
App 3.5feet to get a good (decent) location away from the engine bay.

Re: ECM Mount Location pics

If you are mounting it in the battery tray area on the drivers side, why not just use the factory caprice/impala/roadmaster mount ?

Man you've got a point on the pics, this is the closest I can find to one showing it, but thats where they're mounted stock, it would be the best choice.

Took me a minute to find it lol, it blended in.

I thought about mounting mine in that area next to my evap canister, but I'm not sure I like having it that close to the front end just in case of a collision. Right now I'm thinking about mounting it on the firewall between the brake booster & fender, but that might change once I get all the accessories installed on the motor & have a better idea of what space is still available. (Speaking of which why is that when I see pictures of other people's engine bays it looks like there's tons of room, but when I look at mine it seems like I have no room at all?)

My guess is that youre looking at pics of others bays with nothing in there, and yours complete.

I really wouldnt worry about that location on mounting for crash purposes, if you managed to hit hard enough there to damage the pcm, you've got a lot more to worry about over a $50 pcm.

Yeah, that's probably a large part of it, plus mine is semi-complete so there's hoses & wires still laying around not going anywhere that make it look like there's more there.

Originally I had it mounted where the factory thirdgens have them underneath the dash and had to lengthen the harness because I ran it out to the fender. I hear if you drill a 2" hole on top of the frame rail, you can do it without messing with the harness.

With the current location under the battery tray I had to lengthen a few wires but most of them actually were cut shorter.

What was there a reason for relocating it from under the dash?

Re: ECM Mount Location pics

Yup, I hated seeing all the wires draped over the back of the intake and fender. Moved the fuseblock to right above the battery tray, the ECM to right below and all my wires snake through the frame rail inside the fender brace or under the intake. My engine is naked.
