YSI 408 Vert build
Ive been on this forum for what seems like forever and have only ever had one thirdgen. My white "turbotank" is still with me but I have removed the turbo setup and im going to bring it back to its roots with a N/A 5.3 setup that I can beat on the road course.
My new monster project is one that ive actually had a hand in building over the years. My buddy bough this car about 5 years ago and we swapped a LT1 into it, added a hot cam and some juice and went 10.6's. He decided to go bigger and we started building a 408/YSI setup. Well he had a bit of a midlife crisis and sold me the vert and went out and bought a C6 Z06
I cant blame him really tho I think I would have done the same thing in his situation.
So here is where the build is at. Chromoly 10 point is done. dummy motor and my Viperized T56 trans are in an mocked up, Custom 2" headers are in. Intercooler (a2w) is mounted. Charge piping and throttle body are mocked up.
Ive got a ton to do still but it will get there. I still need to pull my Fast XFI out of the white car and get all my wiring moved over, fuel system from the white car needs to come over to. Im debating on doing the 4th gen dash in the vert but I think for now ill keep it thirdgen.

Thanks man. Nope it was BONE stock except hot cam and a 200 shot. I think it was around a 4K stall converter with 3.90 gears in the 9". It ran it at LTx Shootout two years ago. I think it dynoed right around 325hp through an unlocked auto without spray.

The entire intake, blower, motor plates, and charge piping will be polished. your gonna need shades to look under the hood! The "holley" on the intake will be black and the "EFI" will be body color.

Thanks man! I ALMOST changed direction on the vert and went turbo since I had all the parts to do it but the YSI setup was about half done and I really love the way its all packaged in there. When its done the primary drive will look alot like the 671/871 blower drives with the big cog belt hanging out front.

Ya a YSI is a bad *** SC. I'll miss my Novi2000 in the vert but wanted to go back to a turbo. So I picked up a 78mm turbo for the 383.
Seeing your vert with a 10 point makes me think about finishing mine off with a full cage. Doesnt look half bad.

Wow man 10s on the stock heads is nuts! Makes me feel better about a future cam swap. I bet you had some sticky tires on it. lol

I love the forest metallic green going on on this car..and its a vert! This should be one hell of a head turner..will it be street driven or just road course/track car?
Id get it all wired..plumbed and running, workout some gremlins and then worry about swapping dash and interior resto/mod.Going fast and driving on rails means more to me than looking pretty or creature comforts lol.Took me a yr to convince myself i needed a radio back in my car over hearing sweet exhaust notes

Ya im going to be doing this car different than the white one. I smoothed and painted the engine bay before it was complete with the fab work and dyno time which made it a PITA to work around. this one will just be kind of rat rodish under the hood untill it street tested.
This car will be nearly 100% street car. 800hp on pump gas and shoot for 1000 on 113 or E85. I even have a spot picked out for and AC compressor IF i want to get crazy!
