Re: Ls1 to 6.0 question...

the starter and flywheel are the same and all the LS brakets will work but I believe one bolt hole or the alt will not be drilled on the 6.0

Re: Ls1 to 6.0 question...

its just that i look at the crankshaft and at the end it looks like its farther back than ls1 crank... its a 99 where the rear main goes it looks like double the thickness

Re: Ls1 to 6.0 question...

you will need a LS1 balancer they are internal balance so you can swap them out and yes the 99 to 02 6.0 has the longer crank snout so it will bolt to any older trans 700 th400/350 but will not work with a newer 4l60e but will work with a older t56

Re: Ls1 to 6.0 question...

you need a block that is 02 up they used spacer to bolt to the 4l80es the 99 to 02 just bolted up

Re: Ls1 to 6.0 question...

the 4l80e will work perfect but you will have to take it apart and replace the output shaft at the rear to a 2wd shaft and the 4l80e is a BA trans shift kit alone is good to 550 hp its a th400 with overdrive but parts are not cheap for the 80s I know I just built one

Re: Ls1 to 6.0 question...

the 60 will not work the cheap alt would be to get a th400 for around 300 and bolt it up or get a crank from a 2002 up and swap it out

Yes. Use a non-LS 4L60 converter.

The other choice is to swap in an LS1 or later LQ4/9 crankshaft. Even a 5.3 crank will work (rebalance highly recommended).

You need to learn how to punctuate. Caps at the beginning of sentences also help make it easier to read.

Okay.

Using my Super Secret Spy Decoder Ring (thank you, Cracker Jacks), I think when you say:

You mean:
"You need a block that is '02-up. They used a spacer to bolt to the 4L80E's. The '99 to '02 just bolted up to 4L80E's."

It is true about the '02-up and spacers. My 6.0/4L80E had just such a spacer (and longer bolts).

But, you don't need the '02-up "block". It's the crank that is different.

And, as I already stated, there is a way to use an LS1 4L60E with an early 6.0 crank.

If you're pulling the 6.0 apart anyway, that's a good option.

Re: Ls1 to 6.0 question...

Quick addition, but your years are off slightly

The longer crank was only used from 99-00 on iron head'ed 6.0's. If its got alum heads, its the short crank version

Iron blocks did not change enough to mention for all the GEN III years for each displacement. I.E. a 99 6.0 block is the same as an 05 6.0 block
