88 camaro to impala ss lt1 swap

hi guys, getting kind of frustrated with my motor swap I'm thinking now that the guy i bought the motor and tranny from didnt give me all the right stuff. i have the motor in the car and wired up enough where the motor will turn over and crank and crank and crank but wont start. my understanding was that it would not work because i am using the factory key to the camaro that does not have a chip. so my questions are is there only one engine management unit or are there several because i still have a few plugs open. also i have found a couple different ways to get around the chip issue and i should have that solved by next week. i just need to know if im missing control units or not. ive done my research online and ive found three separate "control units" that are said to fit the car but, as i said, i only have the ecu that takes four color coded plugs and is grey in color. thanks for all your help. i need to get this figured out so i can pull the motor back out and paint the car.

Have you used a noid light to test the injector pulse ? Sounds like you need to send a 50hz signal to the ecm or have the vats flashed out of the programing.

Re: 88 camaro to impala ss lt1 swap

You could contact PCM for less to have them reprogram out the vats or buy the modulator I put in the link above. A noid light is a light that is put place of one of the injectors when you crank the engine if the lingt blinks the ecm is commanding the injector to fire. The vats system if not working if the ecm does not see the correct hz signal it will not pulse the injectors.
