Re: PSI harness
Afaik, they just make stand alone harnesses, correct ?
If so then it gets you nothing over a stock harness, good solution if you dont have a harness and want a new one to start with, but takes care of none of the wiring needed for the swap.

Re: PSI harness
Its a standalone but seems as it covers everything from fans, TC lock up, etc. My motor didnt come with a harness either or id be using it.

Re: PSI harness
If you got one you'd still be in need of a lot of wiring to have a complete working harness.
A fan relay or two doesnt equate to all thats needed for a proper, complete and fully functioning thirdgen harness.

Re: PSI harness
I just bought one and installed it on my G/F's 90' Camaro, I mounted the ecu is the same place as the old one, and instead of cutting a 2''inch hole in the fire wall i ran it the same exact way as the factory harness. the only 3 issues i had when i did it this way was 1. i had to add some wire to the cam pos wires, and some to the IAC senor other than that no issues.

Re: PSI harness
that is still a work in progress at this point but it should not be to hard i will post u some pics when i get that far. One thing i did forget to mention was the oil sending unit plug is not included in the harness so i had to buy a pigtail from from my work and then i ran it off the stock ls1 sending unit into the main engine control block on the driver side booster which is not that hard to do.

Re: PSI harness
Guys that are running these stand alone harnesses what are you doing with the engine side of the C100 harness, is there certain things you keep? How does the car get power to the rest of the accesories?

Re: PSI harness
Thats why I said that the harness does NOTHING for you over a stock harness.
You are at square 1 for building a thirdgen harness just like with a stock harness, except now you have a fuse block and dont have to connect 4 or so wires, and have a redundant fuse block.
You're still without all of the wiring that makes a swap harness a swap harness.
For a Tbucket, or maybe a first gen camaro, its not a bad idea, for a thirdgen the $500 is better spent towards other things, or someone to build you a proper harness.

Re: PSI harness
So who still builds a proper harness? I'm a little concerned about the wiring of the swap and heard good things about the PSI harness in 3rd gens. Now I'm unsure again.

Re: PSI harness
Hawks and speartech make thirdgen harnesses if you can supply them with cores to start from, but are pricey. Z28ricer makes them last I knew, I have made a few as well.... Pocket no longer does them last I heard. Let me know If you need either the thirdgen harness(assuming you are swapping the 92 in your Info), or a ls harness, let me know. I have a 91 TBI harness that's perfect for a swap harness, and a very nice 00' 5.3/4L60E pickup harness with PCM as spares in the basement.

Re: PSI harness
If i knew there were easier or better options before i bought it i would have went that way, but thats ok, i have another car ill be doing a LS swap on so ill be looking again for a harness, this time with more knowledge.... Mine should be in this week, ill probably wire it up this weekend and have it on the road, hopefully, got the C100 side of things figured out and cleaned up so now just need the engine harness to make it go.

Re: PSI harness
Way too much pink wire there.
Every harness I extend gets the same gauge/color/striping wire (I've seen other harnesses done by others with some terrible stuff, a single run of wire that managed to be 4 different pieces of wire together with a different color and size for each)

Re: PSI harness
Got it, installed it, looks decent, pretty easy install on a 86 with a LT1 actually, still need to wire TCC lock up and tach but it looks simple to do... Didnt realize i needed the harness adapter for the optispark but ill be in reno tomorrow so a quick stop at summit and maybe finally will be able to take it for a spin
Re: PSI harness
I don't see what the big deal is. If you want stand alone, and end up swapping your engine into another car, you won't have to do the wiring again. I know a few people with the PSI harness, it's a good price and high quality. Stand Alone just means that you are separating the engine wires from the body harness. They also throw in relays for fans, fuel pump and a few other things.
I would not say 1 is better than the next. it's just a matter of opinion. I am swapping a LS1/T56 into my 89 Camaro. I installed a EZ body harness, but decided to make a stand alone harness from a CPW pre-wired fuse box.
This makes all the engine related wires in the EZ harness useless... but so what?!

instead of getting a fuse box from the junk yard, I ended up getting a CPW fuse box. It's a nice part and already has all the terminations. There is a few blank spaces if I want to add my own fuses. I figured $120 for this CPW box is better than $500 for a PSI harness ($500 is a good price for all new everything though). Hopefully the money I am saving will pay for the PCM tune.
I also don't have the tools to pin everything myself, so to me... it was a good buy.

Re: PSI harness
I KNEW there was a reason that I hadn't pulled the trigger on a PSI harness (well, BESIDES the fact that the local dyno/tuning guru hasn't replied to my email yet)... There's NO QUESTION that PSI makes great-quality harnesses, they've got a great reputation on LS1Tech - but I've always had that tiny little voice at the back of my brain asking me
"Yeah, but what about..."
As in "What about all of the other connections from the bulkhead harness that aren't included with the PSI harness??!? What are you gonna do about those??"
And I guess I just don't have all of the information I need about that. Don't get me wrong, I've exchanged a number of PMs with Jon, & he's always provided quick replies with solid answers - my concern has simply been "Am I asking good questions/the right questions?" and I really don't know the answer to that...
I guess that what I need to do is to map out ALL of the bulkhead connections, eliminate the stock L98 stuff, & see what's left...
