anyone have experiance with atk engines? they sell a stock lq4 short block for 1600 bucks and a 418 stroker version for $3500.... seems kinda cheap to me 4.1in stroke with mallory forged internals

No experience there, but I do know Texas speed does a forged 408 short block for a similar price.

I know this is a little older, but I do not get on here to often.

Many people may see our prices and think they are to good to be true. The fact of the matter is we are the largest engine builder in the nation. This allows us to have buying power and purchase parts in bulk at better prices in which we pass on to our customers.

We use all name brand components, not cheap no name offshore junk. Our engines are also hand built, balanced and blueprinted by one builder per engine in the Performance division. Our builders are not shade tree mechanics, we have guys from Reher and Morission, Pat Musi, TRE and some of which owned their own machine shops for many years that we have been fortunate enough to team up with.

The internals on the 408/418LS engines are all Manley Internals with King HP Bearings.
