89 Vette with 383 - Thoughts and Guidance

Hi All -

My corvette could use an overhaul and I'm thinking of giving it a little power bump. This build will remain a daily driver. Cost, reliability, and ease of the swap are higher priorities than max power. My major parts list is below:
That's the rough and basic plan. With that in mind, I'm hoping to lean on your experience.
  • Are there any red flags or things you would change?
  • Is there a recommended tuner for this setup? I'm in STL and would love to have it tuned on a dyno, but I don't know of anyone doing TPI tunes here. I could drive for the right person.

Thanks in advance for the help!

J

I like it but it will need a good tune, not just on the dyno but street drivability and starting. No idea who to go to for that. If you were closer to pittsburgh i could help

Everything else about the build is solid

Thanks for the feedback. The tune is definitely the scariest part of the equation for me, but it's nice to feel like I'm on the right track with the initial plan.

You could try going to tpis. They are one of the few companies that are still tuning tpi based cars. Hawks thirdgen is still tuning tpi cars as well.

I just read through some of the EBL Flash threads in the DIY section. I have a lot to learn, but that looks to be a promising option.

EBL is a great option. If you're willing to learn you'll be better off than trying to find tuners that still deal with 80's efi. They're just so few and far in between these days.

Ultimately, it'd be nice to be in control of my own car's destiny since 3rd party tuners will probably become harder and harder to find.

I won't be taking the plunge until this winter, but I'll keep you all posted.
